Well I use sand bags under fore arm and one under the stock, and use my left index finger on the edge of the fore arm to help control the gun , just keep it off the barrel of the H&R . Not much to it except many years of doing it. I shot a few more the other day and the first 2 shot will be touching or close to it most of the time. If the first 2 don't get-r-done the 3rd will be a good by salute as far as I am concerned at most animals I have ever shot at.
This gun is sighted a fuzz high at 50yds and 2inches low at 100yds , have not shot it past that yet. Probably will see where it shoots a 150yds sometime. I figure I can get with in that range of any deer where I hunt, unless it is out in the middle of some field.
If you need a 200yd deer shotgun go get a Savage 220 20ga. This is a true 200yd deer gun. My friends son just got one. His boy put 2 Rem Accutips at close to 1900fps over my chronograph with in 1.5inches of each other at 200yds on his first try and 10 inches low sighted for 100 yds. Just remember the wind will get them out at that range so hold for it.
I will try my H&R at 200yds sometime just to see, but have no plans to hunt at that range. Need a GOOD rest to be shooting at any living thing that far and hit where it needs to go.
Hopefully Illinois will come out of the stone age and allow us to use pistol calibers in long guns some day.
Then I can get a 44mag or .45colt long gun so I can reload even cheaper with the same effect.
