Old 20 new barrel?
« on: March 15, 2010, 07:50:13 PM »
Hi all

I have my dad's old H&R 20. I can't remember him ever not having it, I'm sure it was bought in the 60s. I am also sure it hasn't been shot in at least 15 years. I keep meaning to get out with it, but I always end up shootin' something else.

I would like to put a short rifled slug barrel on this frame. I'm gonna be down here in So Cal for a while and would like to hunt pig with dads gun. I'm thinkin a fiber optic front sight and a williams peep would be perfect.

My question is, can I do this? The factory barrel has the snap fore end, so I'm sure I'd have to get me another fore end, and I'd have to find a walnut one to match the but stock.

Anyways, if anyone could help, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks
Ron

H&R won't fit barrels to any frame made before 1987, H&Rs with snap on forends were made long before that, but you may be able to fit a second hand shotgun barrel yourself, barrel fitting info can be found in the FAQs.

Thanks, Tim

I have got the barrel fitting thing down, I was more concerned about any changes in the frame that would not allow a new barrel to fit.

Thanks again
