338 JDJ #2 questions
« on: March 16, 2010, 04:03:25 PM »
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Getting ready to start load development for my recent aquisition. Everything I read says 180gr, 200gr Ballistic tips. I was wondering if anybody had tried the Barnes 165gr TSX? Any pet loads that seem to be the go to for this caliber? Will mostly be used for Deer an occasional Moose and maybe even an Elk. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

PS: I already have the load sheet from SSK I am just wondering if some combo's work better than others. I had this caliber before but let all my data go with my other barrel   :(

I prefer the 200 gr. Hornady spire point to any other bullet. Try AA 2520 and RE 15, with Fed. 210's

Groo here
The Nosler bullets are somewhat soft and will open at lower speeds [partision are best]
Stay away from the all copper or brass bullets as they raise pressures greatly..
