Savage JVT Accu-Trigger
« on: March 18, 2010, 03:56:37 PM »
I have a Savage JVT, 22LR with AT and have noticed in the liturature from Savage that the RF min. weight is higher than that of the top of the line CF. Having checked the pre-set, mine is apparently set as light as it can go (I have no scale) and, in truth, feels quite good. However, I have some vintage target rifles with lighter triggers and would like it to be similar.
It may be that the field grade CF has the same spring as the RF and their varmint(?) grade, which has the lightest pull may have a different spring. Can anyone verify my suspicions? If this is the case, can that lighter spring be acquired? I will not send this rifle anywhere! It shoots too good! Out of the box with a 'throw away' Tasco RF 4X scope it did 1/2" groups off the back deck rail at 50yd. with cheap ammo. This was not a fluke, it has been a consistant performer and now wears a nice old Lyman 'All American' 10X.

You know how it is, TM, inquiring minds just need to know......
I was even hesitant to pull the works out of the stock to check the preset per the manual, but I also like to RIG up the metal in the stock and lube the works on a new purchase. This has the heavy lam thumbhole stock which feels quite like a good schuetzen rifle once mounted. As a traditionalist Im surprised how Ive taken to it, but it is a nice piece of work.

I cut half a loop off the big end of the conical spring.  Got a lighter accu-trigger that way on my .22.
