What's happened to Tikka's?? Where have they gone??
« on: March 21, 2010, 06:26:52 AM »
For about the last year or two I've been noticing at the gun shows that there are zero Tikka's being offered.  I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and go to a lot of big shows.  Even at Cabela's the tikka's are on the far end of the gun racks out of the way.  What is the reason for this?  Are there less markups on them as opposed to other manufacturer's?  I think they are great rifles and I own 3 of them.  I used to see them at gun shows and now you never see them.

Thanks.

One word...Beretta.
I knew from day one when Beretta took over Sako it would never be the same.  Beretta now will only sell in very large lots.  The small gun shops can't place a $50,000 order so the mom pops can't buy directly.

There are plenty of Tikka's and Sakos in the small gunshop I go to.  Also the range I belong to has them in stock.  Might be because they both became authorized dealers.

I'm going to guess by your user name that you are from Minnesota...If that's the case there is one in St. Cloud.

I'm a dealer in Central New York State and I have no trouble getting Tikka's and I don't order in large lots either.

Are the Tikkas intruding on the Sako market?  I own 3, 1 Whitetail Hunter and 2 T3's.  They are great rifles.

Woodyed,
You are not buying from Beretta, right?  You go to a wholesaler that buys in large lots adds a little for profit and sells on small orders to dealers.  According to my sources Beretta has one of the highest sale minimums.

And another thing that gets my goat....

WHY IS BERETTA NOT IMPORTING ALL T-3 CHAMBERINGS!

Here in Maine Tikkas are fairly easy to come by. I just got a T3 lite. I know of two other shops that have them as well.

Just got one too.During the Christmas rush one place was sold out and another was out of a few chamberings but had some in .270 and .243.They not hard to find.By the way.....I get more impressed with mine every time I've had it out.

It seems the 6.5x55 and 260 Rem are hard to find . Told they are no longer being exported to America .
The 260 might not be a strong seller but the 6.5 is a fine round for deer sized game as well as a good trainer .

Wareagleguy, yes I buy from a distributor and not Beretta. Beretta does not deal directly with dealers. I also wish that Beretta imported into the US all its Tikka chamberings. I couldn't begin to tell you all the requests I've had for the 260 caliber T3's. Why they import this caliber into Canada and not the US has always been a mystery to me.

I've always wondered that as well but I think it has to do with the BATF.  I'm told that Glock won't bring their 380 semi automatic pistol as a result of some import point system the U.S. has.  Maybe that is why.  I'd love to have either the 260 or 6.5 x 55. Both would be better! :)  I have noticed at gun shows you rarely see Tikka's anymore. At least at the Dallas and Fort Worth ones I go to and they are big shows!  I used to see them but now rarely and they are such a nice rifle for the money.
