You can call individuals who might not be a part of a flock. Just remember that in the fall they aren't interested in breeding so use a Tom call to attract Toms and use hen calls and lost young calls to attract hens.
Fall birds tend to use the same roosts again and again so you can locate a roost tree by looking for feathers or droppings.
