Pro gun legislation
« on: March 21, 2010, 04:58:28 PM »
I haven`t seen anything mentioned but we finally got some good laws passed in Indiana., at least I think it`s a step in the right direction, especially  HB 1065.  the law that states that firearms can`t be seized in time of emergency like what happened during Katrina. Any way here they are:

INDIANA:  Governor Signs Monumental Pro-Gun Reform!  On Thursday, March 18, Governor Mitch Daniels (R) signed House Bill 1065 into law.  This vital piece of legislation will protect Hoosiers against firearm confiscation during natural disasters, such as occurred in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. HB1065 also prevents law-abiding gun owners from being wrongfully terminated from their jobs for having locked firearms in their vehicles while at work.  NRA would like to thank the strong team of pro-gun legislators who worked overtime to see HB1065 through to passage and to the Governor's desk.  To see the list of those lawmakers who fought for our rights, please click here.

Gun Permit Database Privacy Protection Act Becomes Law!  On Friday, March 12, Governor Mitch Daniels (R) signed House Bill 1068, the Gun Permit Database Privacy Protection Act, into law.  No longer will newspapers and other members of the public have access to Indiana's database of state gun permit holders.  Several State Legislators were instrumental in the passage of this much needed bill.  To thank these defenders of the Second Amendment, please click here.

If you want it destroyed right, call in a B-52

that is great news...

i understand the privacy of gunowners, but if i read so in so's name in the paper of being a permit holder, i wouldnt go to his house to protest or try to break in,  that would be the last place i would want to be...

no but really, this is good thing for all,  a definate step in the right direction

It is about time we got some common sense laws. It feels like all governments want to do tell you what you can not do. It is good to be a Hoosier.

This is one of the few times where I found myself not likeing a "pro-gun" law.  I believe people have a right to make their own rules regarding guns on their own land.  If I worked hard and bought a company and for whatever reason decided that I didn't want guns on my property I would expect that to honored by the law.  People are not required to go to your private property or they could park across the street if it's a big issue to them.  Not trying to take away from the right to carry, but I think this law chips away at our rights to decide how we manage our own private company.  I really felt divided on this law because I go to a lot of companies that have signs saying no guns on the property and I think what a pain that is for guys who carry, but at the same time all we need is the government telling us what we can and can't do on our own property.  I just felt divided on this one.
