If you care about the fur it is..............The 243 will blow your fox and bobcat all to heck with just about any bullet you choose. I have seen a bunch shot with the 243 firing various bullets and the results are the same, lots of fur damage. Heck, I get alot of fur damage on my coyotes with the 243 sometimes.

This is a great varmint round especially if your in windy condition and need a longer shot. For fur friendly you can go to the fmj in 80 grn, or check out hard cast lead. I leave the fox alone and I don't believe here in Iowa we can take bobcats, although they are becoming more numerious, as are mountain lion. I am sure a 243 will work for you.

It seems to take a few minutes for the fur to stop floating around the sky when shoting coyotes with a 80 grain softpoint, load to 3200 fps.  A full metal jacketed bullet might be better.

i havent done a whole lot of hunting with a 243 but if u r looking for a gun that will be accurate at long range but not too over powerd i would look at the 223.

I have no problem at all recommending the .243....I have used one for 25 years on small game and deer-sized game. On coyotes and foxes and such....no problem....just put one behind the ear!! Clean kill...not too much muss or fuss!
