Mueller Hybrid 3-9x40 Range Test
« on: March 23, 2010, 07:52:45 PM »
Made the first real range trip today with the Mueller 3-9x40 Hybrid on my 270 Ackley H&R, I was also shooting two other H&Rs, both with Leupold scopes, I'll tell ya right up front the Mueller is all the scope the VX-1 is including the eye box and eye relief as well as tracking. Due to the range being busy to avoid posting new targets, I'd change the POI so I could shoot more on the same targets, the Mueller worked excellent and tracked perfectly. The clarity and resolution is also equal or better than the Leupold as I could see bullet holes even in the black thru the it where I couldn't with the Leupold.

dont much care for all the green on it but then im getting picky. I like the fact that someone other then leupold is addressing the need for more eye relief in a scope. Ive bought leupolds for years and one of the main reasons was the eye relief. Id gladly give up a little field of view for another inch of eye relief. Its something nikon and burris could take a lesson from.

I am very happy to hear this report. With times so tight, I have held off buying another 3-9 scope in hopes this one will do what others will at a much better $$. My hat goes off to Mueller. They are a company us working folk can appreciate.

Just heads up on Mueller Optics, there will be a price change Jan 1, increase will vary up to 10%, the Hybrid is still available now for $129.99 at various Mueller retailers.

The only inexpensive riflescope that I have ever thought came close to comparing to a leupold was the Swift optics scopes. If mueller is that good I may try one.  ::)

Tim, Do you think the Mueller will handle the recoil of a 12 ga. Slug gun? I have a T/C Encore that Broke the internal adjustments on a Nikon Omega last fall after a few shots. Sent it back to nikon but a little leary of trying it again. Thanks.

I don't know, have only used it on the 270 Ackley, give Rich a call or email and ask.

quick,

Thanks for posting this. I have thought about Mueller scopes in the past, but never made the commitment. If the deals going on the Bushnell Eltie 3200's are gone before I can get around to buying a scope for the Handi .223 I bought, a Mueller may just find it's home a top the Handi.
