M29 with .433" throats

Hia Veral
I gots your BHN tester and book a few days ago. Its better than fantastic to finally test the alloys I have been playing with for years. I read the book in two days, now for another fifty reads!

I have this M29 for over twenty yrs now. It will not shoot cast well for the life of me. The best I can get is 2-3" @ 25m(yards), sometimes. These are with a commercial .430" SWC BB over W231 for 1050fps. Throats mic at .432-.433".
After reading your book and site, I realize I should lap polish the bore, but, the possible forcing cone constriction/remedy is not clear.
So, does the bore lapping bullet kit smooth-out the forcing cone as well? Or is this taken care-of with the LBT nose designs.
In other words, is there anything I need to do with this thing besides bullet lapping and polishing and then ordering a correct mold?
Thanks
Dwayner

It's a good idea to measure the barrel to get groove diameter at the muzzle.  With the S&W 5 groove barrel you won't be able to measure it, but can slip the slug into the throats to be sure it goes in loosely.  If it does, just lap the barrel till it's straight, and you are home free.  Also, it the barrel checks out to be smaller than cylinder throats, order the 433 mold immediately, and I don't recommend going over 280 gr for the S&W as heavier with stout loads shakes them apart to quickly.  A 280 gr run along at 1200 fps will not beat the gun up with extensive shooting.  If desired, load it up to full throttle (about 1450 fps) for hunting, but plan on not shooting over one or two thousand such full loads in the guns lifetime, or its life will be shortened.

When you get the barrel lapped and your new mold, the gun will be capable of 2 inches at 100 yards quite consistently, and perhaps down to an inch if you are really good and the guns internal specs are a bit special.

What mold options are there in .433?

Mold options in 433 diameter, or any diameter, are almost unlimited if you order a mold from LBT.  I have the LFN, WFN, WLN LCMN LCFN, an Keith authentic copy, and two new profiles, all in any weight you ask for, with pb bb or gc base, with crimp placed where you want it.   So I guess I could list at least 100 options, though only a few are named on my website or catalog.  Also, I prefer to make a recomendation on profile after knowing what your intended use for the bullet is, and the approximate bullet weight you want to use.  Some are best for lightweights others should only be used with real heavy weights, and some will give superb performance with a broad range of weights.
