muzzleloader shotgun

I have an optima elite muzzleloader shotgun and was wandering if anyone has worked up good turkey load for it that would share.  I will be using pyrodex ffg thanks

Does anyone here have modern muzzleloader shotgun.  There have been 2 questions here on shotguns and neither one of ours has had any answers.  I just would like a load to start at.  My book says don't go over 11/4 oz shoot.  thanks

I have 3 modern muzzleloading shotguns, a TC, a Beretta O/U and a Austin Halleck. All are 12 ga.
I am not much help in answering your question as I shoot mine rarely and then at clay pigeons.
I would love to shoot with some one that could give me some pointers as well

I have a White .12 ga. Thunder shotgun and use it right now for squirrels. I have a Xfull choke in it and shoot them out to 30-40yds.  I just bought a Hastings turkey choke for it,but haven't tried it out yet.

My small game load is 75 gr. T72Fg, White shotcup, 1 1/4oz. #6 magnum shot. It's a hoot to shoot them!!  Got my limit (6) last several times I've been out with it.

I owsn a muzzlelaopding shotgun but it is a T/C new englander sidelock.  I had it reamed and bored and it uses the remington choke system.  My best turkey load was measured out the old way volumetric.  80 grains of goex ffg and 1 1/4 of a mix of #4 and #6 shot.  I also have the advantage of a turkey choke.  I do not use plastic wads. I have over powder and over shot wads.  I am sure this will not help much in your case, but it sure works well for me. BTW I hav ehad this gun for about 30 years

Here is a load I like:

90 grains 2F GOEX
overpowder card
2 felt cushion wads
overshot card (I put this over the cushion wads because I think it helps
                        tighten the pattern a little bit.)
1.25 ounces of #5 copper plated shot
overshot card (Make sure the overshot card is a tight fit. It's very hard to kill
                     a turkey if your shot has rolled out of the barrel earlier.)

Look up a company called Circlefly for wads.  They are all shotgun shooters and may be able to give you some good tips if you have a question.

overshot card (I put this over the cushion wads because I think it helps

Same load only with 80 gr of 2f works GREAT for my turkey huntin!
