Since you wont have them side by side to compare in different conditions, and both are quality glass, you will not know if there really is a differnece to your eye.
Good choice, I'm quite sure you will be pleased.

True...very true. I gave this a lot of consideration as well..and can only base my conclusion to what others have stated of each scope. I had to weigh everything I could find out about each and then double/triple check it again...

I have in the past looked through scopes of each manufacture..but never side by side in actual hunting conditions. This has always been a major problem for any of us to do especially at what either of one of these cost. My pockets aren't so deep these days to do this...as much as I would love to be able to.

I will be able to compare it to my neighbors new 3-9x 40 VX-3 Leupold. He has offered me that opportunity, since he is always in the market for better optics...so I will post my findings on that once I have it here..I have always liked the Leupold's....and I still have my Nikon 3x9-40 Pro-Staff to compare as well for the lower priced ones..It's a pretty nice scope for the money too..So..that will be as far as I can take it anyway..Now I just need to agonize over which barrel to get again..I liked all of them I had chosen initially..but..I might go a different route this time and try to find a like new 24" extractor 243 bull barrel to compliment my o6' with..It might be a better balance of my wants/needs than the others..Of all of the H&R barrels/rifles I have sold or traded over the years..that is 1 of 3 I wished I never let slip away and still had..The 45-70 while still top of my list to own..will have to wait for a little while..until I can get it in the configuration I want.I'll probably have to have it made from a longer BC barrel..unless I can find one of the 24" stainless barrels around..Neither of those prospects are very bright though I'm afraid.. :-[

Now..off to put a want to buy add on the WTB classifieds for the 243 bull barrel..

True...even though I have many friends who disagree with my choice of having a dream Handi-rifle.. :D One of them scoffed at my suggestion of putting this quality of optics on one..at least till I kindly reminded him last time we shot together my Handi squarely tromped his Savage bolt gun ;) :)

+1 that. Good glass (whatever your definition of that is) on a bird rifle (cheap, cheap) that hits where its looking is way better than cheap glass on an expensive rifle that doesnt.
Or: hits are always better than misses. Use the equipment that achieves the goal.

My thought is that once you try great glass, you can't go back, at least for hunting. So unless you plan to outfit all your guns in a similar fashion, sure, get rid of them. I do feel trhat cheap glass is fine for paper though.

I know exactly what you mean..If this one works out..then I'll eventually do the same for all of them, maybe even go with better if any is around..All it takes is money :D

While this isn't really a bench class scope, for what I am going to use it for it should work for me.I like to have more magnification for bench duty just so I can see the bullet holes better at 200 + yards..but as long as this is as clear as what everyone says..it will work better than what I have at the moment..

I would suggest going to a retail store and actually looking at the scopes if you can.  Sometimes that helps your decision.  Around me, there are Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops that have some of the higher end scopes in stock.

Thanks..I know they do..but few if any in my immediate area have the Khales in stock to do a comparison with..I've got the Zeiss ordered now..and will just have to wait till it gets in. Maybe I can find a dealer that has the Khales I was thinking about in stock once mine does arrive to do a side by side comparison if they will allow me to..That would be good for me for any future purchase 4-sure..

WOW.. :o :o :o

Within less than 3 hours today... my whole predicament is really a non-issue now. In less than a hour of posting on the WTB forum I was offered a chance on a NIB never fired 1 x factory fitted 24" extractor barrel..which I gladly accepted..This forum is a great...I gotta say that..Dare I press my luck today...nope...I'll wait on the 24" 45-70 barrel..I got to get busy with my reloading for each now..and that should hold me till after hunting season this year..The sun is out..the temp is rising..got my scope ordered and a getting new barrels...I am a happy camper......... for now... ;)
