Hubbard Rod...length
« on: March 24, 2010, 04:57:14 PM »
My new Hubbard rod extends about .5 inch past the end of my barrel in the stored position.  Barrel is 24".  Is this typical?

Looked at mine yesterday and I vaguely remember it being about a shy 1/2" short of the muzzle.

Smokepole06 had a GREAT question. What tip do you have on it?

Do you have the pallet wood stock or synthetic?  Mine does the same thing with the pallet wood fore end (extends about 1/2 inch past the muzzel) but fits just fine with the synthetic (actually, is just short of the muzzel by about 1/8 inch).  Removing some of the wood in the pallet wood stock, decreasing the distance from the fore end screw to the end of the ramrod channel would work as long as you don't get too close to the screw hole.

I have the wood forearm.  The tip on it is the one that came with it.

Mine fits flush, but I find it very handy for the rod to extend a bit past the muzzle.

I also have no problems with the synthetic stock that I have but the wood fore end does not allow the ram rod to be seated far enough. extends approximately 1/2 inch in front of the muzzel.  Has anyone talked to Mr. Hubbard about this?  He is a very nice man to deal with!

I have not done so, because I use the synthetic stock, but it would be very easy to open up the channel on the wood fore end with a dremal or some other tool.
