For you guys with a .223 Superlight or Compact
« on: March 26, 2010, 06:14:19 PM »
What power range scope are you using? I had a Bull Barrel 24" and used a 6-18x50 Banner on mine but have since traded/bought a superlight 20" barrel. I have a *new* Redfield 2-7x33 available but am thinking 3-9 or more would be better. I'll probably just punch paper with it for the most part. The Banner I still have, kinda sorta seems like overkill on this barrel.
Any info would be appreciated......

I'm using a Nikon 3x9 -40 mm on my superlight 223

Here's what it looks like

Here's what it will do with three shots at 100 yds

I've got a 4x32 Weaver shotgun scope on my 243 Superlight, at less than 9oz it seems to me to be a good choice to match the rifle, probably depends on your intended use tho.  ;)

I had a Simmons Prohunter 2-7x32 on my .223 Superlight, but wanted to use that scope on a new .357 Trapper, so just two days ago I put a 3-9x40 Nikon Buckmasters on the .233. The 2-7x32 worked fine for the .223, but it is better suited to the .357 than the 3-9x40 would be.
