Hevi-Shot
« on: March 27, 2010, 05:52:14 AM »
Was looking for some 20ga. Hevi-Shot Turkey load, couldn't find any, but the gun shop had some Waterfowl loads. Looked to be the samething so I bought a box (expensive). I allways like to see how things are made. So I cut open a shell and to my surprise on top of the pellets and buffer was some seeds. I called the company to ask what the seeds were. They told me they are flax seeds they just use for filler. Very interisting the things we find out sometimes !

I`ve used Heavy Shot for geese for several years and it is the best thing I have found for geese. BUT, with the price of it I would go back to lead in a heart beat if it was legal, it`s not that much better than lead.

I wonder if using flax seed was to be enviro-friendly or just happens to be a cheap and effective filler??!!!

I never would have discovered it - I'm way too cheap to cut one of those things apart!
