Well if you've not been paying attention to other news, voting, speaking & gathering are acts of violence according to the MSM and the left. Owning guns and going to church are further acts of violence. Speaking up for the unborn, homeschooling your children, moms staying home with children ... all acts of violence against the tender sensibilities of the left. Literally, they use the language of violence to describe the actions of citizens protected by the Constitution. A gathering of folks exercising their right to bear arms is considered an armed protest? I've been to an armed protest, and it involved the sound of 7.62 spanging off the armor on our vehicles. That's an armed protest.

That is why this rings suspicious to me, and why I am taking a wait and see approach before I cast judgment on what those folks were doing.

The indictment charges members of the group conspired "to levy war against the United States, (and) to oppose by force the authority of the government of the United States."

Ain't dat kinda what the Declaration of Independence is all about? Don't it say we have not just the right but the DUTY to do so when other means fail? I think we're damned close to all other means failing. Sadly I suspect that means will as well.

Quote
Once other officers gathered for a slain officer's funeral, the group planned to detonate homemade bombs at the funeral, killing more, according to newly unsealed court papers.

According to the indictment, the idea of attacking a police funeral was one of numerous scenarios discussed as ways to go after law enforcement officers. Other scenarios included a fake 911 call to lure an officer to his or her death, or an attack on the family of a police officer.

After such attacks, the group allegedly planned to retreat to "rally points" protected by trip-wired improvised explosive devices, or IEDs, for what they expected would become a violent standoff with law enforcement personnel.

"It is believed by the Hutaree that this engagement would then serve as a catalyst for a more wide-sread uprising against the government," the indictment charges.

I really kinda doubt that such was meant to take place any time soon but rather might have been a longer term plan to put into effect if and when a war with our governing forces becomes necessary to retake the country and reestablish the Constitution as the governing document in this nation. I can't know that but it is what I suspect.

If not then they really weren't too bright. I don't think we're there quite yet. Maybe not far from it but still not there yet. I do however think it is what the folks in charge of the government want to happen and they will continue to push until they get it. IF/WHEN they get it I wonder if they gonna like what they get.

Quote
Phyllis Brugger, who has lived in the area for more than 30 years, said some people who lived there were known as having ties to militia. They would shoot guns and often wore camouflage, according to Brugger and her daughter, Heidi Wood.

Wal geewhiz I shoot guns (tho not nearly as often or as much as I used to) and wear camo every day. I've never had ties to any militia and don't expect I will.

I don't think we are at the point where anyone needs to do anything of a violent nature. That is why I am being so vehement about being peaceful in our quest for change. War is something that should always be the last resort if all other measures fail. I'm not ready to write off using the ballot box to make change. Hell the American people have just started to wake up in the last year. Let's see what we can do with that going for us before anything else is even considered. Steve

News just said that the govt had a plant, a guy inside, an informer. They said they were training to fight the anti Christ alongside Jesus. Now, TN, IG, or   anyone else here correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe, as many do, that the anti Christ will not be known til AFTER the rapture. If they are Christians they should know this, unless they planned on being left behind. Even after the rapture it would be years of tribulation before Jesus Christ actually returns for the final battle. If what they say about this group is true, they certainly are not Christians, misled yes, and  very misinformed. A lot of people believe that osama obama is the anti Christ. Agreed he certainly would qualify, but once again, there has been no rapture. I hope this is just a fabrication by the feds, we'll see. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Well a rapture prior to the revelation of the anti-christ is a popular idea in the church today, but has only been for about 100 years or so. Other Christians believe in a mid-tribulation rapture (3.5 year mark), and still others are of the opinion that we'll be here until Christ comes in glory. Bottom line: it is not necessary to believe in a pre-tribulation rapture to be a Christian.

   Thanks for broaching the subject Powderman..This is where the government's and the Huterees cases both start falling apart. They claim to be Christians and the govt agrees with them ! Well, I was able to locate their website by ay of Google  http://www.hutaree.com/  and they are not Christian. They don't even have the basic doctrine..so there is no way they honestly qualify as "Christian".  Of course, any crackpot can claim the title..there is no copyright on it !
  Go to their website and in the left column they have a place to click onto their doctrinal statement..such as it is..
   Yes, PM is correct, if they had the least smattering of basic Christian doctrine, where the saints join Christ in the struggle AFTER the great tribulation. I basically agree with pre-trib but I won't be dogmatic about it; besides..pre, midst or post trib makes no difference here. The battle we saints join in is after any of these events...and we only will be there, ! We need not bring M16s, rocket launchers or grenades, the King of Kings won't really need our help, he just wants us to be there.
   The Hutarees speak in their doctrine (Matt 25) of the 10 virgins who went to meet their "bridegrooms"..Now , if they had a 6th grade Sunday School class education, they would know there is only ONE BRIDEGROOM. To miss that point, means they missed the whole Gospel. ...But most of all, Jesus doesn't expect us to help Him fight the battle of Armageddon; Being God, He can do that all by himself.
    The millennial kingdom will be set up, no matter who doesn't like it ! Showing such ignorance of the Bible shows that they are only "pretend Christians".
   ..But for a batch of feds, to round up a bunch of nutcases and call them Christian terrorists..takes the pressure off them for not rounding up the real domestically born & raised terrorists taking their orders from overseas..

Their website is as Christian as Bible quotes and the word Christian can make it. They just might not be your flavor of Christian, which does not mean as much as you think. You can be Christian without being a Bible scholar.

I would not be surprised if the "plant" was the one that came up with the plan to kill cops and the militia members agreed and it went from there. I know someone that hunted with a group of hunters that was infiltrated by a federal warden, HE (the warden) was the one that was trying to get the guys to shine deer, cut up an untagged doe that HE shot, and a bunch of other game violations.

The warden lied his butt off in court but none of the charges stuck, the funniest part of the story is one of the guys was a taxidermist and had a deer cape in the freezer with the owners name (youngwolf) on the bag, the wardens thought they hit the jackpot ;D ;D

The warden showed up with the doe in the back of his truck, no-one saw him shoot it.

Yeah they're not a complex bunch, so I guess I didn't read crackpot into their doctrinal page. Some of these groups have pretty elaborate doctrinal statements which are full of crap, so simplicity lends an air of honesty.

TN;
  In paragraph 3, they speak of the bridegrooms (plural)..is there any doubt that there is but one bridegroom, Jesus the chrtist who will meet the church at the wedding supper of the lamb ?
  They claim the bridegrooms represent the church, when obviously those ten virgins more appropriately represent the church or ecclesia, some ready to meet Him, some not.. (i.e., 5 saved and 5 unsaved).

Members called him "Captain Hutaree" or, somewhat cryptically, "RD." A federal indictment calls him the “principal leader” of the Hutaree militia – an extremist group federal authorities say was preparing to "levy war" against the US government by killing police officers.

He is David Brian Stone, and early media accounts sketch a portrait of a man pulled increasing toward the militia movement and its radical fringe. His ex-wife said she left him because he "got carried away." Federal authorities allege that he researched how to build roadside bombs on the Internet. And at least one neighbor said the group that Mr. Stone leads had acquired a certain notoriety around town.

"You don't mess with them," she told the Detroit News.

Hutaree militia arrests: Why the number of militias has tripled since 2008

Monday morning, federal authorities released an indictment against Stone and eight other members of the Hutaree militia. They allege that Stone and his followers were planning an attack sometime in April, perhaps killing an police officer then targeting the funeral with improved explosive devices (IEDs) to raise the death toll. The group saw the police as the arm of a US government, which they felt was the enemy.

'Handguns to big guns'It had not started out like this, said Donna Stone, David's ex-wife.

“It started out as a Christian thing," Donna Stone told reporters at the preliminary court hearing Monday morning. "You go to church. You pray. You take care of your family. I think David started to take it a little too far. He dragged a lot of people with him. When he got carried away, when he went from handguns to big guns, I was done."

“He dragged a lot of innocent people down with him," said Donna Stone, whose son was legally adopted by David Stone and was among those indicted. “It started to get worse when they were talking about the world's gonna end in the Bible.”

According to the indictment, David Stone researched IEDs on the internet and e-mailed diagrams of the devices to someone he believed capable of manufacturing the devices. He then directed his son, Joshua, and others to gather materials necessary for the manufacturing of the bombs.

The indictment further concludes that in June 2009, Stone taught other Hutaree members how to make and use explosive devices intending or knowing that the information would be used to further a crime of violence.â€

Other militia groups in Michigan distanced themselves from David Stone and the Hutaree.

"I've met him. He's an opinionated man who likes to share those opinions," Jim Gulliksen of the Lenaway Volunteer Michigan Militia told the Detroit News. "The Hutaree is a nationwide group, but I have met a couple of the members here, and I can say they all belong to one specific church. Our concern is the protection of our nation. Religion appears to be a big part of what they are doing."

A Christian survivalistAccording to group’s website Hutaree.com, Hutaree means “Christian Warrior.” The website announces: “The Hutaree will one day see its enemy and meet him on the battlefield if so God wills it.”

Heidi Beirich of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks militia groups nationwide, said Monday she was aware of two Hutaree chapters: one in Utah and one in Michigan. She noted Hutaree has more than 350 friends on its Myspace page, dozens of which are other other militias, and she said David Stone was planning to attend a summit in Kentucky with other militias next month.

“Hutaree is not an isolated crew,” she noted.

People in the southeastern Michigan community of Adrian, Mich., knew of the group, which would shoot guns and run around in camouflage. "Everybody knew they were militia," resident Phyllis Bruger told the Detroit News.

The Hutaree website claims the group was “preparing for the end time battles to keep the testimony of Jesus Christ alive.”

Beirich suggests militia members like David Stone see “the end of times” occurring today: “They have extreme antigovernment beliefs. They have rage and hatred for the federal government. They fear being put in FEMA concentration camps. They’re really paramilitary organizations.”

One of the rounded up was near me in Monroe County, Ohio. Now, no one is really saying he was involved with these Hutaree people, but it happened at about the same time. He had and was manufacturing explosives (several were detonated nearby) and he was milling illegal suppressors. Unofficially I was told he may have had some full autos without proper documentation. Supposedly he had a plan to bomb a government building in the county seat. Now, I have looked at the their website & they have some Bible quotes, but it looks like they are anti-Jew & maybe anti-black, in other words, possibly a hate group. I'm pretty sure Jesus would want nothing to do with folks like that, at least that's how I understand the Bible. I'm also pretty sure some stuff that ended poorly started with some of these ideals in Germany (thanks to our vets). Disagreeing with the government is allowed (and seems to be encouraged) in this country, planned acts of terrorism are not.

Local media is playing up the Christian thing. I've heard there are militias in KY but I've never see one, or even talked to anybody that has. None around here that I know of. It appears that these hutaree folks may just be a bit off the wall. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

POWDERMAN.  :o :o

As more info comes to light, these guys were whack jobs.

TN;

IG, yeah I saw that. I'm thinking that's a genuine fat fingered mistake. And if you go back and read it you'll see why. Just prior to that mistake he quoted the passage directly, then for two paragraphs afterwards he talks about the 5 wise and the 5 foolish. I made a similar mistake myself this sunday past teaching on the Passover, and I talked about the Jewish tradition of placing the mezzuzot on the gate post and the door post, but I kept saying my heart because that's what was in my head. My wife caught my eye, and fixed it. So I may be charitable, but in the context of the whole page it would make sense. Also, if you look elsewhere on the site, they have a defense of their post-tribulation rapture position, which also leads me to conclude that the juxtaposition of bridegroom with virgin was a simple mistake.

ruppster, I didn't find any anti-black sentiment on there, or white supremacist sentiment at all. In fact, right off the main page is a link to the Voice of the Martyrs. If you're not familiar with that site, its a ministry that calls other Christians to pray for and support their Christian brothers and sister who are being persecuted for their faith around the world, mostly in places like Africa and Asia. I find it difficult to imagine that an organization that would put a link like that right off the main page, calling us to pray for Black Christians, would be anti-black.

Anti-Jew? They have a thread on their forums called "Evil Jew." You have to be registered to use all but one of the forums on their site. But the description sounded sarcastic, which leads me to believe they don't buy into the jewish conspiracies. I may be wrong; just doesn't sound consistent with the whole.

BB;
  You're right there..they seem to have a big hate thing going for whites.

  TN;
  I know what you mean..such can happen. I made a gaffe myself, in the middle of a message..but I already had an excuse. I told the folks, " It seems my tongue got wrapped around my eye teeth...and I couldn't see what I was saying "
   That was not near so bad as a young preacher I saw one day make a real gaffe. He was preaching on the evolution/creation controversey. He began an explanation of evolutionist "goofs", highlighting " Nebraska Man". He was excited and boistrous as he explained how some "scientists" had found a single tooth and virtually built a man around it, calling it Nebraska Man. He even explained how some time later, another scientist went to check the same square footage , found other bones & skull..showing that the tooth actually came form a wild boar.  This young preacher got so excited he said " they found out the tooth actually came from a wild wh---"
    He expected a round of amens and was puzzled by the silence...   At least the word rhymed with boar.. ;) :D
   When the real pastor came back from vacation...he had a big laugh !  ;D ;D
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

IG, that's a good one right there!  ;D

Lest anyone think I am being too charitable with the militias, let me explain my thinking. Last year when the DHS watchlist came out, I met most of the qualifications for domestic terrorist. I am a very conservative Christian, politically active, vocal, homeschooler, gun owner, anti-abortion, combat veteran ... I had to laugh since chances are I've given more for the Consitution than many folks at DHS, and I'm an active duty officer under oath, but we all see the issue.

So from here on out I am going to be very careful who I condemn, particular those calling themselves Christians. Because I know that it won't take much for certain parts of our society to demonize me and my family because we hold to traditional American values, actively practice our faith and our right to bear arms. And I don't want to create the precedent of Christians particpating in the rock throwing against our brothers and sisters if that is in fact what they are, and I'll look to their own words first before the newsmedia accounts in my determination of family connection. What you choose to do is of course up to you, but recognize that folks like us are the anti-thesis of those who are pulling the strings in our society today.
