DNZ scope base
« on: March 28, 2010, 03:48:42 PM »
I have one of these on my 10/22 and I really like it.  Just wondering if anyone had one on their handi.  Bout to be mounting a scope on a 45-70 ultra hunter and was considering this one.  Does this one sit flush at the end of the chamber area or does it hang over like the factory base

Don't know about the base your talking about..never used one..but..I've never had a factory base hang out over the end of the chamber..How would you close it if it did ???

All of mine are set back about 1/8" from the breech face...Is this what your talking about?

I would guess by looking at my bases that unless you chop it off at the end of the chamber and cut a new front groove and hope and pray you can get the rings to mount far enough apart to set the scope in that yes you will have some front of chamber over hang.

I think he means the base hanging over the barrel were the diameter starts to reduce.

This must be what your after. I love mine. Mine wears a Weaver 44/40 2.8-10x44.
Scope pictured is a Bushnell Trophy 3-9X40 but the power ring kept it from being mounted far enough forward. After 2 bruised eyebrows it now wears the Weaver with the proper amount of eye relief.

That's a real nice looking set up you got there..I agree..that mount looks very nice and I do like the way it is stepped up over the end of the chamber..

How's the rings holding up on it..have you any problems with slippage or them needing to be lapped ?

Sorry for the hi-jack

I haven't had any problems with slippage or movement of any kind(without lapping). I mostly shoot 300gr. JHP's to around 2000fps.
