1982 Glenfield 30A
« on: March 29, 2010, 04:12:03 PM »
Picked one up today (bought yesterday but didn't get the OK from big brother till today) >:( and in excellent shape for 28 yrs old.  Very little blueing wear on the muzzle and end of the mag tube, no wear on the loading gate and hardly a mark inside the receiver on the blueing in there.  I doubt she has had a full box of shells run through her.  3-4 dings on the butt stock and smooth wood, no checkering.  I'm very happy for 3 bills out the door. ;D  DP

Sounds like you made a good score. Its hard to go wrong with a 30/30.

I had bought this with the thought of sending it out to JES for a rebore to 38-55 with bore sized to shoot Hornady jacketed bullets, but if today is the way she's gonna shoot, she's gonna stay a 30-30.  The front bead was bigger than the aiming spot, and I can't use irons very good any more.  3 shots in 1 1/4" vertical line, middle one was maybe 1/4" out of line.  I'm gonna put 2.5 power glass on her and try it at 100 and see what she'll do before makin the call.  DP

Never shoot the donor gun esp. if it's a Glenfield 30/30A.  They are very accurate.
