who belongs to TCA
« on: March 30, 2010, 04:45:26 PM »
Is Thompson Center Association worth joining? I was a member back in the 90s and went back to a jamboree in NH but all I did was spend $1000 and go to a  banquet and  thru the T/C factory. Is it the same group or have things changed.

I am a member.  The old people that ran the group turned it over to new folks about 3 or 4 years ago.  Ed of Ed's T/C is now one of folks involved.  The quarterly magazine has improved dramatically.  I feel that I get my $30 per year out of and just paid up for another year.  The offerings they have been having are a little more unique than they used to be.  Most of the offerings have been available in stainless or blue and one was any caliber you want that the custom shop could make.  The prices are better than just ordering from the custom shop.  I picked up a G2 frame a few months ago that was all High Luster Blue.  These were extra frames TC had from the state quarter commemoratives that they sold to the TCA.  I paid $260 for it which I thought was a pretty good deal.

I never even heard of TCA either I don't pay enough attention or it's not very well advertised. I may have to look into it.

I'm an old ex-member as well and rejoined about four years ago.  New folks at the helm and have an entirely new attitude.  It is still primarily a collectors organization, which is exactly what it's supposed to be.  I went back on a "I'll try it one year and see" and just renewed for the fourth year.  There are some good folks involved.  "One Good Shot", the bi-monthly mag is much improved and worth the dues fee alone.

I am.  It is well worth the $30.  Every now and then I will order one of the member only barrels.  My last purchase was two 20" stainless half-round half-octagon barrels.  One is 44mag and the other is 300 Whisper.

I am a Member as well this is my 5th year.  I look forward to the Magazines coming. Wish it came more than 4 times a year. Some very Nice stories written by plan folk Like you and I some awsome Pics of some very nice rifles and pistols. Lots of history covered in every issue.   They have raffles and of course the Custom Offerings.  The custom offerings have been from T/C custom shop as well as MGM and a few others. Prices on the offerings are usually a little cheaper. Than what it would cost, if you would just order it your self.  They have a Classified section as well. Some neat stuff comes up in it from time to time.
It's worth the $30

I belong and don't have any regrets about doing so.  Do wish they would offer a 32-20 in rifle length sometime soon.  I enjoy the articles and have found information in the magazine that I haven't seen elsewhere.  Thought the last issue was especially informative.

I am a member for about 5 years and am pleased---I just sent my renewal check out today.
It is well worth the $30/year and I like the member only barrel offers.
