Yep!  There are Opposums in the Adirondacks - you just don't see a lot of them as they play dead all the time.  The ones you see often enough however are the 'late', 'post' or 'ex' Attack Opposum, the ones that run out into the road at night to attack your car tires as you are driving by.

BTW, these critters are still evolving and anyone seeing them as far north as upstate ny is seeing evolution in progress.  These critters much prefer a warmer climate, much warmer, and to see them up this far north is very evolutionary.....

Mikey is correct. Evolution is successful adaptation. Perhaps we are witnessing adaptation to climate change.............. We are seeing several "southern" species moving north and adapting to our neighborhood.

Richard:  I can only hope the economy is pickingup in Virginia, because it certainly sucks in ny.  the politicians reigning in this state are so pathetically stupid they should all be taken out and horsewhipped.  They must be stupid or think we are so stupid that they can continue to jack the taxes up and borrow against no income without concern.

The biggest problem is nyc - they crow about kickin' in 20% to the state's coffers while draining 60% from upstate.  One Rochester politico wants a bill to separate nyc from the rest of the state - I think the other politicians had him drowned to shut him up.  I think it's a good idea.

Leatherstocking:  I read that news clip a day or so ago and I agree but I think it will take a major, and I mean major upset for the d-rats to lose their majority so we can put someone inoffice to straighten the state's economy.  The problem is that no matter who we put in or who gets elected, whether the populace is fed up or not, the old holdovers from both parties will still be in place.

For guys like silver it doesn't matter if he is majority or minority - with the weight of nyc behind him he can still screu things up, like the time Pataki wanted a budget bill passed and silver was the only holdout, killing the process.  It is guys like this that have to go, or places like nyc that have to go.

Hey - let them apply for statehood.  That would give us our 60% back and upstate could open its doors to businesses once again.  No business wants to come to nys when they see that they have to pay nyc taxes no matter where in the state they set up.

I would even be willing to say - just give us 50% back and take the other 10% and spread it around to neighboring states to defray the local (regional states) cost of supporting nyc - I'll betcha then the other states would be willing to welcome nyc into statehood and then the mayor can be the governor and hobama can have two more d-rat senate seats, and upsate will have two more other seats.........

Well, in S.E. Wisconsin they were alway here. Now in northwest Wisconsin 20 years ago a raccoon dead on the road was rare anywhere in the north. Now they are all over the trail cams where we put out bear bait.
