Any USFA fans out there?

Also have a Rodeo II a  4 5/8"  bbl model in .38 Spcl. My summer ATV/Truck gun w/snake loads.

  With  250 gr soft leads, the traditional hollow base slug  it shoots as well as I can hold it.   The only loads I shoot out of it.  Senseless to try to hotrod it. Have a Freedom Arms with a .45 Colt cylinder if I want to get the Max out of the ctg.

  This is basically my barbecue rig.  Have a sweet El Paso Saddlery setup for it too.

  USFA does do a hell of a job.

They are nice, I've never shot one, but handled several & the fit & finish really impresses me. I really would like the Sheriff's Model. Thanks for sharing with us. I whoheartedly agree about not hot rodding the .45 Colt. That's what magnums are for. It'd be my luck to get a hot .45 into a weaker gun & have a disaster. That is a very pretty six-gun, & Ivory really sets it off.  EPS makes some of the best leather too.
  Have you checked out Rick Bachman www.oldwestreproductions.com ? I have a couple of his rigs & he does a really nice period leather for SAs.

  I've already got a pair of EPS holsters and a dedicated belt. Not a big fan of the old west rigs, more into usefulness vs nostalgia.  Sadly I like the gun so much I carry and shoot it very little. It's pretty much a safe queen.  The Rodeo II .38 spcl does get carried and shot a lot though.

  At one point in my life I was a cop in Central New Jersey. There was a "connected' Guy who went by the name of "Frankie V" .  Your not HIM are You??   Relocated under the WPP??   Just checking.

  Really like the pic of the dog BTW.  We just put our near 15 year old Siberian down in March and we are still devastated. He had rectal cancer but was pretty good right to the end. He was THE absolute best companion dog we ever had. Rode on the 3 wheeler if I wanted him too, great in the car, etc. Quite a loss when the really good ones pass on.

  Still have a big old Malamute but he's on his last legs too. Doubt if he will make the Summer.

thnx FN. that's Casey. she's a 9 yr old McNab, although the image was taken years ago.

just in the last couple of weeks we've noticed she's losing her sight. more sad for us than her: she bumps into things and can't follow a thrown Frisbee, but she sure isn't feeling sorry for herself in anyway. what a sweetie she is.

like your "kids", ours are in-house companions yet they also work side-by-side with us. great cattle dogs. can go 30-40 miles a day, day after day.

she and Pete (they look like bookends) are about as good a friend as one can find...

very sad to hear about the loss of your Siberian. i find the loss of my K9 friends harder to take than i do the human kind.

I have Uberti's with the firing pin "safety" as well. Frankly I don't see the point. Load five rounds and the gun is as safe as any SA can be. Engage the "safety"? Well why not just keep the gun unloaded til' you're at the range?

Not me, I was a Deputy in a large Calif. county for just over 31 years.
You can't go wrong with EPS leather. My Wife got me a IWB holster from them a couple years ago & I use it a lot.Great leather!

USFA'S are the best SAA made today and that includes Colt. Who else gives the lifetime warranty. If you want to shoot SASS with your USFA then buy them direct from Jim Finch. He sells the gun ready to go with all the work done for less than factory retail. His work is the best. I have purchased two sets of USFA'S from Jim AKA Long Hunter. The first was a set of the Premium models in 45 Colt which was a 6 month wait at that time. The second set was a special set of Rodeo's in 44-40. They have three digit serial numbers and cost over $700 each. The guns had a $100 up charge on each gun. At the time the factory only offered the Rodeo's in 38 spl. and 45 Colt. I told them I wanted 44-40 and they said we will make them at a extra cost of $100 per gun. The only difference in the premium's and the Rodeo's is the exterior finish. The premium's have the CCH done by Turnbull which adds to their cost. The internal parts are the same for both model's. There is a extra $100 charge for consective serial numbered guns but if you buy from Long Hunter he does not charge for this service. If you want a pair of the best then buy USFA'S.  As a matter of fact....It DID get shot...a whole 60 rounds this past weekend.

 My Rodeo II got a work out as well, probably a few hundred rds.

Ruger makes their 44-40's with the wrong diameters. The chamber throats and bbls are the same as 44 mag. The throat of the cylinders have been measured at .431 That is not good for bullets which are .427 My guns are at .4265, that should tell you something.

I'm not saying it's fact, but it's possible Ruger used the same bbl diameter for the .44-40 as they did for the Mag. Which would be .429 - .431, I'd slug the bbl & see if that is the case. If so you should see a marked improvement using the .429 diameter bullets. I know a .429 bullet will seat in .44-40 cases without much of a buldge. It might be worth a try.
 I didn't know Ruger is still offering the .44-40 caliber.

frank, you're right - their prices are excellent, the custom work they do is top-notch and very inexpensive, they really know USFA revolvers and even Gary Granger says he's impressed with LHSS (and says that USFA continues to stand behind their warranty even after LHSS has modified their guns). they also are great about getting special models that are sometimes hard for the average joe to obtain.

Wow lots of companys would void the warranty because the gun had been altered other than in their shop. It just gets better & better doesn't it?

I just ordered my first USFA SAA 5 1/2b in a 45lc 2 weeks ago from LHSS(Jim was a delight to work with).  I added the low profile hammer and had it CCH to match the pistol.  This will be the longest 12 weeks in my life, waiting for it to be delivered.  I looked around at all different SAAs but the minute I saw and read about USFA, I was hooked. 
Wow those pistols posted are beautifull!!!! I will post my six-shooter when it arrives.
