  A discussion in a congressional hearing today..questioning the stationing of 8,000 additional Marines and their families on the island of Guam. This Democrat congressman had his concerns whether the island would stand the extra weight.
    I still cannot figure how the admiral kept a straight face...must have taken a gargantuan effort..play the video:

IG. I can  understand his concern. I believe that if they come by sea that they should disperse slowly, going all directions at once thereby evenly sistributing the weight. Same principal if they fly in. As long as it is done carefully and they don't get too many on one side to cause it to tip, it should be ok. It will probably ride several inches lower in the water, but it should still float. Yep, gotta love them dumcraps. Please tell me he can't breed. POWDERMAN.

Any military member who routinely interacts with congress or its staff has to be prepared for the most outlandish statements or questions, and maintain bearing. Because no matter how stupid they are, if as a military member you point that out, you will bring harm to a million other folks in uniform in the form of no votes on the raise, decreased benefits, less care to veterans, etc. Spiteful vindictive bunch in congress. And we'll need lots more $ to build up Guam.

We're being kicked out of Japan. At first it was just part of Okinawa, with a phased draw down partially funded by the Japanese govt. Their last elections were won by folks who are in favor of kicking us out, all of us out, now, and not pay for it. We're still hashing out the details, but it means we're going to wind up putting even more folks on Guam than we originally planned.

Guam is essentially going to become a military platform island for all branches.

Maybe the new generation forgets that my Dad and a few thousand other guys kicked their buts, then rebuilt their country better than it was.  I think maybe they should pay back their loan now.........with 60+ years of interest.

With the Japanese now wanting us out, and others just using us for a no-return bank, then our pres snubbing one of the few friends we have...one may think it is time to come home and build an overwhelming military for ourselves and remain "homebodies".
    There are a few problems with this idea however;
 
 1) The present admin has spent us into a hole we can't climb out of alone

 2) We would have a hard time increasing GNP, just trading with ourselves.

 3) We would need natural resources..oil, metals, etc..but those elected by eco-freaks have put them off limits.

 4) We would need a manufacturing base, but eco-freaks, taxes and unions have driven them to foreign shores.

 5) Thanks to liberal/socialist indoctrination, we have a growing body parasitic mushrooms in our own population to support.

 6) Perhaps by the time anything can be remedied, the present admin will have accomplished their aim of utterly destroying our economy.

         ....For these and many other reasons the "go-it-alone" idea is entirely unfeasible.

Did I see a faint smile when the Admiral replied. Just listening to this guy was painful. How does someone like this get elected? It's not a serious question.  I know exactly how he was elected.

The simple answer is to put a weight limit on those who would be prospectively stationed in Guam.  And they all should be required to wear a pfd (persoanal flotation device) at all times while on the island.  This should satisfy the Dumbycrats, because they really care.

   It would only make sense to have the locals reduce a bit to make room for a few more. They can get the same treatment school kids here are headed for.
    Perhaps we can have Michelle go over there and kick all the MacDonald's, Burger Kings and Pizza huts out and replace them with places serving parsley, watercress, weeds & sticks.

   Know what my first thought was when I saw this guy's statement ? Actually, there were two;

 1) This guy must have come in on the Obama wave..

 2) How come Joe Biden didn't say this ?
