I'm no expert, I have two the same way. The one that needs a screw driver is an original model and
the one with the selector on the hamer is the easy open model.

The one with the "screwdriver" selector could be an easy open as well...if it is serial #195,XXX or above it is and then the only difference between the two is the engraving and the hammer assembly.  Even if it is below that number it may have been converted.  Look for the pivot point for the trigger guard...if it is directly above the trigger, then it is easy open....the older style has the pivot point forward of the trigger.  Opinions vary(imagine that) on which is better..etc.  Value depends on how much older and condition and the beholder...etc.

During one of my older Contender frames trip to the factory for repairs, the screw type firing pin block was replaced with the selector lever on the hammer. I find this method much better-it eliminates having to carry a small screw driver around-something that one might forget.

I like the screw type cuz you can't see it.
