census question
« on: April 04, 2010, 04:53:59 AM »
i was at the shooting range yesterday.  There were about 15 guys there due to it being well over 80 in Northern New York.  Anyway while the range was cold we were talking.  It seems there were only two out of the group who had received a census form in the mail.  I for one did not.  One guy had a theory that since we were all gun owners and on the conservtive side of things, it was intentional so they census people could get in our homes and assess for guns etc.  At first I thought it was just a wacko theory, but the longer I have thought about it, the more I wonder. I made up my mind when the census person shows up we will meet on my back porch and I plan to have a sidearm on when they do.  Has anyone else seen this or is the mail just slow to the boonies?

I have not been censed yet.  I live in a city, last name is "Young" though, so alphabetically speaking, it could just be slow to me.

bubba,

The due date is past isn't it? I have heard that on the TV here. I live in Mississippi nine miles from the nearest place to buy a canned coke and I recieved two (2) forms to fill out, both addressed to my address. Both were the 10 question form, identical except for the last three digits of  bar code on the return address .

Your deal sounds fishey, (or just typical for government work?) Your census will reflect a smaller "gun club type" population in NY. Some other "ethnic" group could have recirved forms to make the total head count or your state appear more near correct (while increasing the minority count) to avoid representation loss and at the same time reflect "different needs" for your state.

I don't know, just a D()^^^^ A@$$ country guess on my part.

I think your complaint should be surfed arround the internet or sent to the NRA and GOA and the Liberty & Law/Institute for Justice  to see if the problem is prevalent in other regions.
What say you bubba?

I wouldn't put anything past the present administration, but about assessing your home for guns....  Anyway, I don't think I'd worry too much about it.  If someone shows up, don't let em in.

Out here in the wild west, just about every home has guns in it.  It's almost a requirement unless you live in one of the liberal poopulation centers (cities).

We've already been Censelessed and there wasn't a single question about firearms.

Mine was addressed to "resident" if I recall correctly, so I don't see how they could be targeting specific groups or individuals.  If you have not received a census form it is most likely due to Government inefficiency rather than to anything sinister.

I think most of this is BS. There was a women on the news not to long ago who is in charge of the cencus takeing people. She said they have been instructed that they are NOT to inter your house. They were told it had to be done with them outside. She also said there were a lot of fake ones being sent out with a lot of questions that are not on the real one. Mine had 10 questions on it. The first 8 pertained to me. Nothing personal on it at all. Took me all of 5 minutes to fill it out. I was ask more personal questions when i applied for social security than  when i did the census. If you didn't get one just say to bad and forget about it.

The census is only smoke and mirrors something to keep the wethers busy while the tyrants destroy the country.

Landowner don't think your last name has much to do with it. My last name is Young and my father, brother and myself have gotten at least 1. My dad got 2. I counted the crowd in my house, wrote 2 and sent it back. Wonder if I'll get a census visitor again this time like I did last census. ::)

They spent millions on a laptop type gps to get you address, the fellow who came to my house showed me his Id and stood in driveway for 30 minutes trying to get it to work and none of them were working right by the news report I saw I think they were headed to scrap bin. There was a very nice young lady drove up to my house showed me her Id and handed me mine she said that they were going to deliver them to each home and all it ask was my name and how many people lived in home and did I own or rent.
And this same administration is going to manage health care and save the country money, give me a brake.

were on the last one?

I think I read where they won't mail census forms to PO Boxes. Someone delivered ours to our house. But in this small town nearly everybody knows each other at least a little or by face.  In our area we got a big spiel suggesting that race of each occupant is an important question. Whoever is the first person listed, and their race, that will be used as the racial makeup of that household. My 2 adopted boys are very mixed Alaska Native but my wife and I are not. I usually try to avoid declaring race at all since we're all supposed to be equal regardless.

I have a PO box and mine was hand delivered to my door. I saw nothing in it saying the race of the first person listed would be used to determine the racial makeup of the household. It asked for the race of each person living in the house.

It's supposed to be all about making sure that we are all properly represented in the Federal government.  If that be the case, then I've been getting the short end of the stick for decades.  I can assure anyone who cares that my Dumbycrat Representative and my Senators (both Dumbycrats) do not represent me in any way, shape, or form.

Is this you First Census or something? Have you never completed a census form? When have you EVER been asked on a Census about anything you own, especially firearms? If you received a form asking about that, burn it. It's fake.

I have already filled out my Census form and mailed them back about a week or 10 days ago. Last Friday I received another set and I threw them in the trash. NOWHERE on this form do they ask any sort of personal questions, Especially regarding firearms or anything else I own. All it asks for are the names, dates of birth, and race of each person living in your household as of April 10, 2010.

As for a Census taker coming into your house, you've never seen it, and you never will. YOU decide who is allowed in your home. Period. People, y'all need to stop being so paranoid! The boogy-man ain't out to get you, and he ain't looking over your shoulder every time you go take a dump!

My brother-in-law was so upset when Obama became President, he actually believed the government would be knocking at his door within a month to physically Take his guns away from him! People, Get a Life! Unless you are part of some Cult, conspiring against the gov't., like the one's they just arrested, you are wasting your time and energy worrying about the wrong things. NOBODY can cite me even one case where the government EVER just arbitrarily showed up at somebody's house and took their guns away from them for no reason. You have to be involved in some sort of illegal activity and have people complaining about it for them to even pay you any attention. The government doesn't give a hoot in hell What you own, as long as it's legal and you're not trying to do something Illegal with it.

The Census form also tells you that the information you submit cannot be used by any law enforcement, or government agency, or anyone, and that your information is sealed for 79 years. It can't even be accessed through the Freedom of Information Act.

southern by grace it aint paranoia when they are out to get you for real.  I only asked a simple question that was raised by another at a shooting range. I never said I believed it I simply asked if anyone else had a similar experience of a similar group not getting a form. It seemed peculiar to me that out of 15 only two got the form. Kind of unusual odds I would say.

So you're good with them needing to know what color you are, how old you are, what sex you are, and whether or not you own your home so they can represent you fairly?
I guess you ain't got a thing to worry about you've been a good citizen.

bubba, I live down the river a ways from you and I use a PO Box for mail. Nothing there and nobody has hiked in to the cabin to deliver one by hand. Beginning to feel left out.    ;D
I wasn't counted last time census was done either. Makes me wonder just how accurate it is anyway.
