Home Made Snap Caps
« on: April 04, 2010, 11:33:54 AM »
I hope this is the right forum for this, but I've been looking around for a snap cap for a 45/70, its a Ruger #3, and theres no way to ease the firing pin back after cocking it, I was thinking about drilling out the primer pocket of an old shell and using RTV or hot glue to fill it back in. Anyone ever tried this, any ideas about a better way to do it would be appreciated ............steg

Go to O'Rilies' and buy something like Mr. Gasket rubber sealant. The rubber once cured will snap back to shape once hit. Fill the primer hole completely full and dry fire away. Been usin it for 30 years or more. Works on revolvers too.

i've made em by "turning" pencil erasers to fit the primer pocket and epoxied em in
