See the garden center or hardware store, pick up some Buhach powder, it kills most bug's on contact, its wonderfull stuff, Ive used Buhach smudges in the summer on hornets nest's when im doing maintenance.

to make a smuge pour some in a heap in a tuna can and lite it off, it will burn slowly makeing a smoke that kills bugs / drives them away.
shake some in a window sill the flies hit that powder they die in less than 1/2 hr
So far it hasent seemd to harm warmblooded critters.
