Hawken value?

What do you think the value of a T/C Hawken flintlock in 54 caliber is? Excellent condition.

OK I'll bite, in very near perfect condition, I'd say around $350, maybe a little more.  Price drops off fast when they show signs of use.  54's tend to bring a higher price and a rock lock even a little more so.

Not more than $350.00 when sold as a complete rifle.  They bring more when taken apart and sold on eBay.

A "like new" .54 Renegade flinter (in the original box) sold for $300 on the RugerForum a couple of days ago.

Most pawn shops seem to have a couple of .50 caliber T/C Hawkins at $250 or so. The "Big Boar" versions in .54 and .58 calibers are scarce and bring a premium price so yes, I'd think maybe $350.
 With new T/C's selling for around $600 they have to be about the worst firearms investment out there in terms of resale value. Sort of like a new car, they lose half their value while you're signing the papers. :o

I rescued one from a pawn shop in Weatherford,Tx for $125.It wasn't in the best of shape,but cleaned up pretty good.I've enjoyed shooting it.Need to get a GM .58 barrel for it one of these days,its on my to do list.

Hey BadPenny, you probably already know this - but just in case you don't.  The .45 and 50 caliber TC Hawkens have 15/16" barrel channels.  Only those that were originally .54 or .58 have the 1" channels that the GM .58 barrel will fit. 

Those .58 GM barrels are getting mighty hard to find.  They haven't made them for quite a while and give no indication of resuming production.  All of the regular retailers are "out of stock".

.45/.50 caplock T/C Hawken's are quite a bit more commonplace than rocklocks - and a rocklock .54 T/C is virtually unobtainium.

I didn't notice the one on the RF, but I'd be very surprised if it lasted more than and hour or so, at that askin'.

I paid $185 for mine (new in box) in March of 80'. The overall condition at this time is Very Good.

I would bet that there is still a lot of good used rifles to be had either through private at $150 or perhaps at gunshows for around $225

Are you buyin or sellin? I think the market is soft for traditional guns around here (Midwest). Seems everybody wants an inline. I shoot .54, and keep an eye out on prices. I'm a caplock guy, and I seldom see flinters, so I could be off the mark. I think your looking at 250-300 if selling and are patient for the condition you described. I have no clue what these go for on gunbroker.
