GB, you are a wise man.

It is amazing what you learn when you get really involved.  I agree that the vast majority of votes Cornyn has cast are as I would have cast.  I also agree that there aren't enough people in office acting to change or repeal bad law.

That is why this healthcare thing isn't going anywhere until, as Dee says, we hit hard bottom.

The growth in entitlement spending has its own momentum, like ocean current.  Until we are ready to realize the fact that there isn't such thing as "entitlement" under our Constitutional Republic, our situation is going to continue to worsen.

My mother always said that, "you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip".  I feel pretty squeezed.

Dee, I respectfully disagree that 99.9% of Republicans aren't Tea Party material.  In fact, the Tea Party movement is the most inclusive group of citizens that I've been around in my lifetime.  Indeed, Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, and most other persuasions are quite welcome.  It is a group of people who own calculators, and know how to use them, and aren't willing to take the words of a politician as fact until proven to be so.  We view government as a "necessary evil", as Paine refers.

Our National predicament is no longer Red or Blue (though I am way more Red than Blue).  It is one of sanity vs insanity.  To that end, I think that most of us will agree.

sharke, you took my remark concernin Tea Patters and Republicans out of context. I said that they aren't Tea Party material, because they will not change, and I was speaking of elected Republican officials. They are what they are. You can put a collar on a coyote, and name him Spot, but he will still, steal your chickens.
About the ONLY Republican I will continue to support would be Mr. Paul from my home state of Texas. They ALL need to leave, but it is obvious reading these posts, that they all will not be leaving, and there is nothing I can do about it except, stick to my guns. Which I will.

I hope we don't have a conservative canidate.  They can't win.  Any Republican will be 1000 times better than the man we have now that was put in office by conservatives.

It has occurred to me that it might just take Obama getting another term to get a conservative Republican candidate in 2016. That's with a takeover in the Congress.

Otherwise the GOP will lapse into a food coma after putting up their anemic solution, and we'll get an even worse Lib in 2016.

I'm guessing the candidate hasn't even emerged yet. At least as far as the media is concerned. MSM has absolutely no interest in pushing forward a good R candidate.

A liberal republican is NO better than a liberal democrat. Why on earth would you get behind a liberal republican? I think the idea is to be rid of the current political thought process.

Mmm, poison or poison lite? "Why I think the poison lite is less filling and tastes better that will be great!" How about a new choice, something that's good for me? I like cake and whiskey, but not for every meal. You gotta eat your veggies, and I think the country has a hangover and is ready to behave like an adult for a change.

Without a legitimate, re:mainstream, option we will never get back to a strong United States. This country is not liberal but the media and has us convinced that liberal candidates reflect our views,and make us easier to like around the globe. I am not going to Europe any time soon and really don't care what they think of my country. Hell, anyone who likes this country has already moved here, why should we expect the rest to like us?

Dee, my point exactly. That crowd won't be the nominee IMO. Their job is to run their mouth and incite discussion and arguement or maybe it's to sell Viagra, I get confused.

I think Reagan was elected because the country realised it needed an adult in charge. Carter was a well meaning pleasant and smart man. Kinda like the teacher in sixth grade. You ran all over her, got away with anything, she got mad and yelled. You snickersd at her and went right back to the shenanigans. All the while you actually respected the fifth grade teacher who paddled your back side and made you learn. Can't think of the 6th grade teacher but I still remember Mr. Baughmann and 35 years later I'm not sure I would try any crap around that man. We need an adult in charge.

Yep! The news medias pick the candidates every election. You can see it comin every time. I admittedly for a while thought Hillary was gonna get the nomination until I realized that American voters wanted a NOVELTY ACT president, and then I knew it would be Obama whom got the nomination.
McCain was an easy pick on the nomination as Fox news was on him like a duck on a june bug. They asked him questions day in and day out on the shows almost daily. He was an easy forecast. When he picked Palin, it threw me off a little for a few days, until I realized that she would have no say in anything. She was window dressing for a loser campaign.
America got it's NOVELTY ACT PRESIDENT, and already the Republicans are lining up, and so are the Republican voters. No one has learned a damn thing.

  I have to agree with GB ! If you're looking for the perfect cadidate, you're never going to find him/her. That kind of critter doesn't exist !
   Just remember this, when that day does come in Nov 2012, be sure to vote in each case,for the most conservative candidate on the ticket. If we pout and refuse to vote..that is you refusing to vote for the better candidate, while the far left liberal will be sure to vote for whatever the libs sponsor. You will be giving them a 2 vote advantage to put their Marxist in...or back in..
    There will be other probable candidates cropping up, we may not even have him/her in our sights yet.
  Yes, in a state which practically demanded it, Romney helped to introduce a health care plan. Who knows, by introducing his, he may have staved off a worse one about to be passed, or figured it was a way to hopefully, hold off a federal plan ?
  Other than that one complaint, where dioes Romney come up short ? He is very experienced in business and know how to be a successful CEO. I doubt he would kiss King Saud's hand ( or any other part of him). What disqualifies him in your eyes ?

My two cents here, we don't need career politicians, we should have term limits on Congress just as we do on the White House, NO retirement pay, no kick backs, no bribes and get rid of the lobbyists all together and for Gods sake bills and laws should be written so all can understand and should not contain anything else in them other than what the law or bill is for.  We don't need another party, we the people need to take back our Conservative Republican Party, remember the one that Ronald Reagan talked about, and stop letting these clowns run everything from their towers of power.  Our voices have been heard and lest we want to loose our country we must remain active and loud.  We the middle class of America are what makes this country and it's time we flexed our muscles and might.  We all should be able to agree on one thing tho, this country has gotten to where it is because we got fat, lazy and stopped getting involved with what is and was going on, I say no more if we want to take our country back it is up to all of us and we had better get busy right now.  Just my thoughts hope you like them.

As the way things are today, a willing change by our Gvt. to turn around is practically impossible, but,
In this world filled with uncertainties such as  (Earthquakes) (natural disasters) (deadly diseases), our future may see such a drastic change in America, that patriots loyal  to the Constitution of the U.S.A. may be all that's left to fill the postitions of politicians in the Federal Government.  A strong and strict leader could arise not for want of power or fame, but out of necessity, to set this country on its feet under God with liberty and justice for all.

Well, I guess until Jesus shows up, we've got to come up with someone who is close enough to an experienced leader who is right-minded.  My pick would be Dan Lungren.  He hasn't been a governor, which seems to be one of the better training positions, but Congressman Lungren (R California) seems to have all the right stuff.  I've heard some of his comments etc. and I like what I've heard.  Heck, I don't even know if he is interested in a run.

The Republicans are just as out of touch and elitist as the Democrats, their just more SUBTLE, yet everyone THINKS their gonna "change the Republicans by votin in more Republicans". Everyone wants to IGNORE PARTY LOYALTY, and that is crux of the problem to begin with. FOR THE GOOD OF THE PARTY, is where the corruption actually lies.
