I needed a gun to hunt the primitive weapon season in Mississippi. This one fits the bill but I am concerned with some of the results posted minus the one that says he shot a clover leaf with Hornady factory 200grn ammo at 75yds with iron sights. If I buy bulk ammo from cabelas I can get either the 300grn HSM ammo for 389.00 or the Hornady 200grn for 289.00. Researching the barrel it appears Fox Ridge makes the 460 with a 1-16 twist which according to the reloading books I have looked at and the Shilen website is the best for all bullets that are .451 Did I do bad? Here are the specs:
Thompson Center Encore, "Custom", chambered in .460 S & W, interchangeable and can also shoot .454 Casull and .45 Long Colt, 24" Fluted barrel from TC's Fox Ridge Outfitters Custom Shop. Custom stock painted in Zolotone "Jungle Camo" by Kevin Wyatt, Wyatt's Outdoors, Medford, Or., 1" Pachmayr Decelerator Pad, Hammer extension, Warne base.
