Richard - are you implying that a yankee officer indian fighter could not be of Scottish descent?

Believe it or not, but "most" yankees are descent from somewhere across the 'big pond'.  ;D

Yes it is Richard.  but all I have is the buckle.  As you know it is a two part buckle and I only have the shield side not the loop and the buckle I was Issued at Military school is the wrong size to steal the loop side and use it.
I used to be proud of it.  But seeing that Lincoln held the union together to have morons like Pelosi, Reid, and Obama turn the Republic into a Socialist state, I kind of wish the South won.
My Father found out more about Angus in a book published in the late 1800's about indian fighting. I can ask him for the title if you would like.  If it is rotting out in the barn in NC I will have him send it to me and photo sheet from it for you.

You might look up McIntosh, of Creek indian fame.  He was half Scottish, half Creek or Muscogee indian, fought for the US in the Indian wars, and was a Brig. Gen. when he was murdered..........

Richard,
he wanted to be a Southern officer but was rejected as his parents were married.
 ;D
But on the same side of the family there are a few thousand $ in confederate money in my great -great grandmothers stamp collection.
So she must have thought the south will rise again.

Richard Mac has been very kind to me in the past, but seems to be insulting our Southern raisin. I'm gonna have to go to the court house lawn down here tomorrow, and light a candle at the Confederate Monument and hope that :D President Davis' spirit will forgive Mac for those unkind remarks.

You might check into Col. Ranald Slidell MacKenzie...I couldn't swear that he was of Scottish descent, but he might have been.
