 What size bore is this, whats the powder charge , I am makeing a carriage for Doms Beer Can mortar and if recoils like that I need to make it bigger or add lead to it. Thanks- Joe

   Are you making a carriage? or sled base? I would be interested in some pics of a beer can carriage ::)

That is a K.I.S.S. golf ball Mortar shooting a golf ball size steel ball.  Big lesson learned with this gun. 

The change of projectile from low mass golf ball to high mass steel produced a significant increase in recoil.

This is something to keep in mind when when shooting large projectiles of high mass in larger guns, i.e. lead balls vs. zinc!

you will see the recoil from a soda can mortar made by Dom. The last post has a video where the recoil shows.

If you have Dom's FM 2, just build a heavy base  or give it a large foot print.

The flat base mortars have two holes in the bottom plate for bolting to a wood block or a 2 by 10.
