Just looked at it and I thought of babies and diapers. Left the room came back and it don't look so bad. I think it's gonna be like asking us all which Handi we like the best. Give it a couple days. I forgot what the old board looked like already. Long as it don't poke me in the eye I'll read it.

There is a real good reason that books are black print on white pages, same for forms we fill out and lots of other things. This is what happens when a tehnical person starts to think he is an artist, just think what it would be like if he had an artist write the database. Also, remember, not all people see colors the same, I am green/brown color blind, so are lots of other men, about one in ten. To see what it really looks like turn off all the color on your monitor and see how it reads for you. Larry

Darn it Larry, I was just thinking this was lookin real good. That really stinks about green/ brown colors. What does it look like in the woods? My grass is really getting green. I can't imagine having that problem.

Not speaking for Larry, but I personally can't track a bleeding deer in the woods if my life depended on it, just ask Lonny. His boss had to come out and help me find one this last year. For me, being red-green colorblind means seeing no blood on grass or in the woods at all. I will try the blood tracking lights next year, maybe that will help even in the daylight.

Life is kinda boring not seeing all the same colors as everyone else. But sometimes it gets real exciting when I drive at night and some wise acre has decided to turn the traffic lights sideways, better hold on tight to your handles.

I hate those sideways lights..... I can live with these colors, no more headaches.

There is no way to please all people with any one color scheme as many of us have color perception problems but not all with such problems have them with the same colors.

BUT common ones are red being a problem for folks to see. It bothers me or is difficult to see lots of times and places. Some of the red here I see OK and in other places can barely see it at all. Yellow is about invisible to me all the time however.

I do think the old way of bold brown for the color of viewed threads was much easier for all to see than the current red tho I admit that right now the red there isn't a problem for me. But it is a problem when viewing it on what page numbers are available on multi page threads, forums, etc.

I don't really have a red/green issue or brown/green either as some have mentioned just a yellow invisibility issue. I don't like really light colors as it makes the screen too bright for my eyes. The white box I'm typing in now has that effect to some extent but probably is the best choice over all for it. The real light green border we had early on it this change was really difficult for me as was the really dark area at top changing to ligher as we went down the page.

What we have at this moment has solved both those for me.

EDIT: Wow blue numbers on green background? Who thunk that one up? Dat's worse that the red for me but then really I pay darn little attention to page numbers anyway.

Matt - given what old Abe says is true about pleasing all the people all the time...it starts to sound like we need some kind of poll or survey to find out who can see what and what the preferences are. at one point alot of mental institutions and prisons were painted the same green as the panels the posts are on because it of its calming effect on the inmates

I have decided that I will be making several Themes that the members will be able to choose from. I will be doing a Dark theme, Blue based theme, the old theme with the new header and who knows maybe even a redish one... I have created a little helper app that will let me do it much faster so look for this in the new few days....

Oh I hope this one is starting to look better as I am about finished with it... still have a few things like link colors to tweak still but I am getting there.

It looks pretty good to me Matt, and thanks again for all your work. Regarding the green painted walls in custodial settings (cells). The cells at all of our State Police barracks were painted light green for many years. at some time in the late 80's IIRC the cells were painted pink!! It seems the latest studies at that time had shown that the pink was a more calming color to those being held....<><....

but please don't change the background here to pink, the present colors are soothing as they are....

I will probably keep this color as I REALLY like it. Just wish the multiple page numbers were a bit bigger so I could "nail" them a little easier with my mouse. With my small monitor and my preferred faster mouse speed, sometimes it takes a little fooling around to hit the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc. page to advance. Maybe a next page option?

No big deal.

Anyway of stretching the larger picture on the left with the mountains in the background all the way across the top of the page,instead of having 2 separate frames cropping part of the same picture..?..then use just 1 GBO seal on the left..? Would look more uniform to me if you did..Love that background with the stream and mountains..The colors are looking good..We have IE 8 at work..and I have the latest Opera here at home..

Smart a** LOL. Actually I'm a nurse in a residential treatment facility for juvinile deliquints and MRED kids so yes I am used to these colors.

I must boast that the new color scheme is MY IDEA! He had some bright not so soothing and colors surly not easy on the eyes. I toned them down with more neutral shades. See all the site needed was a woman's touch.
