Shipping T/C Contenders

I just sold a Contender with a 10" barrel.  Do I have to do anything special other than just address it to his FFL?  How much will it cost to send?

Post office will not accept firearms from nondealers and UPS is cheaper then Fedex. Both UPS and Fedex require nextday overnight shipment of handguns.  I have found the cost averages about $25 to the 48 states.  Go to UPS with your a copy of the FFL of the dealer your are sending it to

have you tried fedex ground for prices? I found them to be the best rate and don't require next day fees and all of the hullaballou. have done several that way and been exceptionally pleased. worth a look, R :D

Might be cheaper to send it in two boxes..barrel in one and frame in one..if anyone asks they are gun parts.

do not ever send a ffl item without an attatched ffl to show source or destination, sorry if I was unclear. I meant in no way to say I was not sending as a firearm. fedex ground doesn't give me any hassle about sending properly tagged ffl items in the unrealistic overnight mode that others require for an inflated price, sorry for the confusion. lets play by the rules until the rules become wrong, then lets give our congressmen what for,  :grin:

We are really addressing two issues.
 1. The shipping of the gun. And,
 2. The transfer.
All transfers to out-of-state buyers MUST be through an FFL holder. This is law. No exceptions, that I'm aware of.
 The technical aspect of shipping this firearm is a bit different. The frame must be sent to an FFL holder. If it is shipped separate, it may be sent as gun parts, without the requisite hassels of shipping a handgun. Same for the barrel, except it doesn/t have to be shipped to an FFL holder.
  If I were doing this, I would either:
 1. ship the frame to the dealer, and the barrel, grip & forend to the buyer, or
 2. Go to my local dealer, and have him ship the whole thing to the other dealer.
  Either way, you must first have in hand a signed copy of the receiving dealers FFL. My local dealer doesn't charge me for transfers of this sort, just the shipping. I usually use him, because he isn't restricted to the overnight rule, as I would be. FWIW>>>>>>>>>>>Bug.
