looked at peculiar .357 Handi today
« on: April 10, 2010, 02:14:31 PM »
Help me out guys. I went to a local shop today and they have a .357 Handi for sale. The guy says it is a brand new gun. The receiver is a matte black(it looked a lot like a parkerized finish) while the barrel is the standard blue. I've never seen a Handi receiver with a matte finish. The receiver was serial numbered CACXXXX which designates an SB1, while the barrel says ".357 magnum SB2". The barrel on this gun is real short 16-18" drilled and tapped for scope base with rifle sights. It had the tightest action I've ever seen on a Handi. I had to pull really hard to get it to open and close. What do you guys make of this gun? Since it is an SB1 frame, I won't be buying it anyway, but just curious.

It sounds like the talo trapper ...  wood stock, sights, drilled and tapped for a scope and 18" barrel.

check out  rrarms...

Yup, Talo Trapper. Got mine a while back. Nice gun. If you want a .357 Handi with sights, this is the easiest way.

The 357mag and 44mags only come on SB1 frames, have since Jan 2008, normally with scope rail only with synthetic stock, no sights, but the Talo Trappers are relatively new, only around for a couple months now, many, many posts on them, they're also available in 44mag, both with 18¾" barrels and pallet wood stock.

As has been posted many times before, SB2 marked barrels means nothing as far as the frame it's on, barrels are made a long time before they're fitted to a frame.

That's what it was then, the Talo trapper. Nice looking little rifle.

And again, as always, I'm a couple steps behind the times. ;D ;)
