I may be crazy........
« on: April 10, 2010, 03:41:27 PM »
Was in a local GS today. Saw a Youth / Compact .243 w/HW stock and white line spacer. Lady said was new w/box. This is where I may be crazy, I know I have been looking at this gun for a while, but it I recall the SN was starting with NT. Isn't that a 2003, and isn't it 2010? I will need to go back a look again, but I really think I saw a 7 year old new gun today.

Not unusual, specially in a small shop.

Man, that is some seriously slow moving stock. No wonder it is so hard to find stocking dealers here {SC}. It seems you guys up north have a much stronger following. Found a new shop that just opened in town, he had a 44 mag w/scope. Also had a 7mm08 w/scope. Both used. I hate when people slap on a scope to jack up prices and then will not seperate them. I am very picky about optics and mounts. Anyway, slim pickings all around. We have a Dicks, about 40 minutes away. They only stock the 22-250 varmit. At least most of the M&P stores do the lay-away thing when they get something.

A year or 2 ago, Wholesale Hunter blew out their Handis. Some had laminated pallet wood stocks. About 10 years old at the time.

Went to Sportsman's a year of so after H&R had made the switch to extractors.  Was looking at the Ultras in .223, I asked if he had any others.  Salesman said he had one in the back that was on the bottom of the stack, and that it had been there for a while.  I asked to look at that one, saying I was looking for an older one.  He went and brought it out, box was crushed.  I opened it and heard that sweet click.  I looked at him and said "I'll take it",  The salesman asked if I was not going to check it out, shoulder it, look it over, or something more.  I told him I had seen all I needed to see, it had ejectors, and I wanted it.

It's killed a few Coyotes, some foxes, a Lynx, five Wolves, a bunch of Beavers, and was in my hands when I stood off a Grizzly last fall.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Bet you were wishing for at least the '06!!!

I did the same thing with my 7-08. Bought it December 09 and it is an 07.

Two years ago I found a NIB 357 Survivor.  It is a 1996 model.
