i have some white pine and some yellow poplar. i need some 2 buy 4s  witch one would you guys think would dry the fastest. im going to use it for an out door bulding. how long would you let it dry and do you have to turn it from time to time thiniks bill

  For an outdoor building, saw them in the morning, and nail them up in the afternoon, they will dry in place!  I use construction lumber right off my mill, all the time!  You can too...

I assume you are not constrained by any building codes.  If so, call an inspector.  A friend of mine in Wilson NC built a sun room addition on his home with his own rough lumber and had to take it down and replace it with finished and dried lumber.

Drilling Man,
When they dry in place, do they shrink and leave gaps?  I built a cedar fence with wet wood and when it dried it left 1/4" gaps.  It looks terrible. ??? ???

  The lumber will not shrink in length, it probably will shrink in "width", but on a 2x4 i doubt it will shrink more than 1/16" at worse...
