Laser Cast Bullets?
« on: April 12, 2010, 06:52:52 AM »
I'm wondering what is the general opinion on these bullets? I've used a few in the past and contrary to their "guarantee" they did lead the bore in several revolvers of different calibers.  However, I just tried a few I had left over and they shot fine in my new 50th Anniversary Flat Top. They were 240 grain .431" SWC's and I loaded them in .44 special brass with either top end .44 special data or .44 mag starting loads. I was looking for about 1200 fps and most loads were around that number except for 6 grains of Bullseye, which went 974 fps and was the worst leading, and 6 grains of Trail Boss which gave me a 0.8" 25 yard group with only a trace of leading at 830 fps. The Elmer Keith load of 18.5 grains of #2400 went 1280 fps with no leading and a 2 1/2" group. 12 grains of HS-6 went into 2" at 1244 fps with no leading. That's all of those bullets I had on hand but I've just ordered 500 more. Their price seems quite reasonable at $67.50 with shipping included. I was wondering what opinions of other shooter may be on Oregon Trails Laser Cast.
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.

I have used the 45 colt, 200 grain, 357 125 grain, 44 mag 200 grain all at low speed plinking load. I have no problems as of yet in there use. All loads at around 850 to 900 by the reloading books.  I dont order over the internet so I  buy local , its what they have its what i use. No leading in marlin 1894 357 that I can see, 25-2 s& w revolver, very good need to use 454 size bullits to get great groups,. Loads well  44 marlin 1894 none. I  will continue to use them . Loads well , nice uniform bullits

I got leading with .44 spl handloads. Bad leading.

Threw the last of them into the casting pot and went back to making my own again.

Wheel weights and bar solder, 9 to 1 and no more leading...

I have used and continue to use Lasercast bullets in .38, .357, .44 special and mag, .45AR and .45Colt. These bullets perform well in all firearms I have tested.

I've used the .428 .240gr.  at around 1000fps and really liked them.
