Is there really a difference?
« on: April 13, 2010, 04:58:53 AM »
This has probably been discussed here before, but here goes anyway.  Does anyone know if there is a difference in gasoline brands?  All of the gasoline around my local area comes out of the same refinery.  Some of the brands claim to add their own little extra ingredient that makes it special.  I am skeptical that anything they add makes enough difference to matter.

I generally buy at the cheaper stations and have done so for years.  I think there used to be some difference before the government mandated a minimum alcohol content, but now I suspect they're pretty much all the same for the regular grade.  What do ya'll think?

The towns around my area get their gas delivered by a couple different companies. One of the companies is privately owned. The private owner buys gas from the same distributor that the name brand stations get it.
The price of gas at Enmark , Chevron , BP and Walmart may vary in price by as much as .12 a gallon but it's the same brand of gas. ??? I don't know if there is an additive mixed in at the pump but the gas these stations buy comes out of the same distributor.
