I may 'just' be discovering the 25-35 in a G2 soon. Rifle barrel of course. Got a frame and rifle stock coming soon. Then I've got to decide if I want to trade one of my 10 or 14" pistol barrels for one!

I have a 25-35 in a contender carbine and an encore rifle.  I love that round for coyotes, deer and the like.  No need for the mags...a great choice.  I shoot imr 3031 with rem 100 gr corelokts and standard primers.

  Alan , I have a marlin rebarreled to .25-35,, have used it on coyotes, prairie dogs, chucks, whitetails, mulies, and antelope...all of the big game was for meat...no trophy hunting..if I were trophy hunting I would take a heavier rifle...But this is a fun gun..I shoot spire point s by loading one at a time..the out fit you mention is the one I wish I would have bought..for Georgia, I think it would be a neat rifle...a guy named Francis Sell did a lot of hunting with this caliber as a kid...he killed like 125 deer with it..as an adult he made an improved version he wrote it up in Wolf'sw big WildCat book if you are interested...I think the main thing was the brass did not stretch as much....

my bumper sticker would say my other gun is a...22 hornet, 222 rem, 25-20, 32-20, 357 mag, 44 mag, 38-55, 45-70, 405 win, 9.3x74r.... take your pick

How does the brass hold up for you? I've considered rebarreling to .25-35 on a Marlin with an abused bore. Thanks!

Brass lasts for 8-10 loadings if you don't hot rod it and some have lasted longer. I don't over work it.  There is very little frame flex if any in a mild cartridge like this so i just resize enough to firmly hold the bullet.  It needs trimmed every 3 or 4 loadings.  Lever applications would be a little harder on brass and require more resizing.  Brass shouldn't be your deciding factor.   Consider relining your bore instead of rebarreling....it works for 25-35.

Might be going 'backwards' but.....

these were all rifles, bolt action except for one of the .25 Auto [pistol] and a 25-06 which was a Browing single shot model 78......but I"ve never had a .25-35 Win. In fact I've looked past it and never even considered one until now as I'm 're-equipping' my self with 2 T/C G2 Contenders. I think a bull rifle/carbine barrel is what I'd get.

Thanks for the input. Actually, I'd figured to rebarrel as I have a couple 25 cal tapered octagon blanks from Green Mountain before they apparently decided to discontinue them. Figures, they were a good barrel cheap. The Marlin was basically bought for the action as the rest of it is pretty tired and abused. A friend  had a Winchester is .25-35 that had problems with brass life loading to factory levels. I suspect a large chamber and full length sizing dies were most of the trouble but I think of him and his troubles whenever I think of .25-35. Since I shoot cast in everything and rarely run them at full pressure, brass life probably isn't an issue anyway, especially if the chambering reamer was ordered to SAAMI minimum specs. I like the idea of .25-35 or an improved version and enjoyed reading Francis Sell's experiences with it in his Marlin.

the 25-35 would be great in a single shot like the contender. A contender with 24" heavy barrell is still light weight. I like 25 calibers.

If you enjoy the 25-35 then you should also consider building up a Savage 22 Hi-Power aka 5.6X52R for pleasurable shooting adventures as it uses the same case and you can make cases easily. The .219 Zipper also uses the case. The 25 - 35 had a so so reputation for accuracy because of chambering in lever action rifles.

has the T/C Custom shop ever built a run of 23" Rifle [full/bull contour] barrels in .25-35? Otherwise it might be the MTM route for me.
I do have some Contender barrel 'blocks' for building our own Contender barrels. A friend is a gunsmith and used to be a partner in a custom rifle shop. They ordered a BOX full of "Contender blocks" for making custom barrels. They never did as T/C started producing a lot more barrels themselves after the initial production.
