Smooth Move
« on: April 15, 2010, 03:20:21 PM »
I realize that the reason Handi Bbls are so rough on the outside machined surface is cost. Has anyone "smoothed" one up and have picks. Also, is there a place to get the older style forends with the turn down vs the newer beaver tail style. When looking for a used one, what guns mostly came with them. I am talking about the tip looking like the front of a Mannlicher Stock.

For a forend you want to be looking for the 'schnable' designation. Forestocks fit rifle to rifle and most shotguns, too.
The BC (Buffalo Classic) and CR-carbine are walnut. The BC has a longer schnable forestock than the CR-carbine and the std PW (pallet wood) forestock in 'ballbat' or schnable.
An even shorter forestock is that for the 'youth' shotguns and has nice proportions on a stubby barrel.

You could always rust blue it.  It doesn't take any high dollar equipment.  Just time.
