The shot hit it mostly in the neck and crop, he had his head up high as he could get it, there are no holes in the breast meat at all!!  ;D

Way to go Tim!

All I hunt with for the last three years has been my Handi's!    Shotguns, to rifles, you only need one shot!
My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.

That's all I've hunted deer with since 2004, but haven't seen a legal deer to kill, so I decided to switch from an 835 to the TDC last year hoping to at least kill turkey with an H&R, still didn't kill anything with it then, but finally have now!!  ;D

Thanks,

Tim

Tim what a great write up, just read it and it had my heart pumping at a high rate. I'm glad you can still do all that crawling and such. I had to quit turkey hunting because my old knees can't handle the running and such. Thanks for the story.

Well, I watched Michael Waddell do a low crawl in an open field to get in range of birds, so if'n a young fella like him is smart enough to do it, why can't an old guy do it, albeit it at a might slower pace!!  ;D The only consequence was instead of one sore knee, both are sore!  ::) And I got pitch on my camos, but a little paint thinner took that right off.  ;)

thanks,

Tim

I think turpentine would be a good choice, but I put em in the washer with a capfull of Sportwash after I removed the pitch, so there won't be any scent left.   :D I didn't notice the pitch until I got back to the barn, didn't want to get it on anything else, so I covered the spots with duct tape, you'll see that when I get the pics that Jack took with his camera, if I'm gonna make a habit of "walking" or sitting in pitch, I think I need to get some camo duct tape instead of silver!!  ;D

Hi Tim
Ah, with a 20g my all time favorate. Concrats on the turkey. I got back from AZ what a change. Cold, snow and windy. Today it is 32F but the sun is out and it should soon get warmer. Had a real good winter in AZ. Not quite as warm as other years.

I need to get my marbles sorted and get some handloading done and give that 9.3x74R and 6.5x284 a good break in since I got all the components and dies.

The gophers are out so I might make a trip to the lake and check out the cabin and do some gopher hunting. The ice is still on the lake. All the best

Sounds like some one will add Roller blade, or tactical pads to their Turkey hunting gear bag.
