I think the latest spear point has the potential to get stuck in the target and be very difficult to impossible to pull out.  You might have to push it all the way through to recover it.

I had a request for some more detailed pictures, so here they are.  If you want to see them larger, go to the image source.  If anyone needs them any larger than that, or anything I haven't captured, please let me know.

Andy there is a groove inthe upswept blade thingamorroo .

how about this one ?

Note to Kbar , tomorrow is payday and I will fix the unsightly table cloth 8) , what color do you like ? hummm? :D

the UGLY truth is since dan has been teaching me to make a 50 dollar cannon , my kitchen , my dinning room table and its undernieth where a bunch O boxes for casting  live that have amassed by themselfs and now I am helpless B4 them .

This bronze has smitten me and my dinning room table and new stove had had to pay .

Thanks Dan

Gary

eta Andy on the first one ,the groove for slo match isnt really shown too good ,but it is on the upswept S blade

I don't see a place for slowmatch or ball.  Is this a linstock or gonne, or just some sort of conceptual chopping, hacking, stabbing device.

my mistake the slowmatch groove is in the first short stubby one , and is clearly shown several pics in this thread .

This one is just for mayhem and scaring the willies out of your enemy .

Whoa!  Images 9 and 13 show this to be a recoiless hand cannon.  I never knew that before, and you, bronze boy, never mentioned it.   >:(   Don't worry, I will be careful not to stand behind you when you fire this gonne!   :o

You know, I admire your adventures into lost wax casting and the resulting Morko, but don't think I want one...but I think my mind is changing....so how much of the bright copper and tin do I need to round up?

 What's next, Gary?

Anyone got a pic of that ancient (Chinese?) stone-throwing mortar made to look like a seated lion for Gary to work from? I'll take one of those in coffee table scale, please.  ;D

Victor3,   Ever since Max suggested this bad boy as a model for a possible water-jug thrower, we have have been favorably disposed to seeing one delivered to Seacoast Artillery.  Gary has resisted the temptation to make one thus far.  The poundage of bronze scares him, no doubt.  All depends on the size, I guess.  Even a GB shooter of this style would turn heads at the range!

Coffee table scale??  As in sitting on, OR the size of?  :o

Large flat rate box is 12"x12"x51/2" = 792in3 x .324lb/in3 = 256lb :o  You'd be constrained by their limit, so you may as well use the medium size box.

Did you dock his tail?  Is that in bronze, or the positive master?  If it's the positive, I think it begs for more detail before casting, but it's really neat!

It's a start,  but should be at least popcan size but for individual mortars. The  GBO Group buy Lion mortar should at least as big as the Monstre!!!

Gary you really need to learn to engrave no metal stamps

it should be your name followed by "Fecit" & then the year

Now that I looked it up , I am taking you off the "Fecit list" .

I may do that ..............    "made by"  ....thats what I thought it meant . :D

I worked on the howie today . no pictures though thats because I havnt got a new tablecloth for my dining room workbench .. maybe tommorrow . It looks pretty cool with the bore in it  .

Tracy took some nice photos in the seacoast machine shop today , they were really very nice too . he stopped bronze chips in mid air  8) .

But since I dont have a new table cloth yet I forbade them to publishing . I'll try to get one in the next few days or so .

George , He's a lover ,not a fighter  ;D , BUT dont get the wrong idea because he's a fighter too .

This would really be a challenge ........as this must be "the most interesting cannon in the world ." IMHO .

Gary

btw the tail is welded on after casting .

Wait a minute, Gary.... You took the idea right out of my head before I even thought of it?

So you're not only a great artist, you're an accomplished "psychic vampire."

 ;D

You could put a stubby tail on it and call it a pit bull mortar.  :)

Actually the clue to how big he will make it lies within his posting...Table cloth....
a water jug tosser would not fit on the table.....

Gary I am glad to see I have been taken off the "list" thought it would not be the first time
I was on at least one list somewhere I am probably still on one list from my college days there were these
fellows in suites wearing sun glasses taking our pictures and I don't think they worked for LIFE magazine......

I apologize for the crack about the table cloth....... I broke a cardinal rule never discuss or poke fun
at another man's table cloth.....

So please more photo's!  ;D
