Dan,

Uoy wonk taht ton gnihtyreve nac eb detalsnart.......

 ;).deerga

not a ' Guess What '  I really want to know what it says.

This is as close as I can get (it's hard to read some of it):

hoc
captisterium
sanctum
loco proprio
deturbatum
hic positum (a.d. mcmv = 1905 AD)
nt nil nisi aquam
relestein cariat

This is just a really rough word for word translation:
This captivity sanctifies the position exclusive disclosed here placed 1905 AD except no water reread decays.

Where is the stone located?  It is demarking anything else, or by itself?  Is it cannon related?  Why post it on this thread?  Context is crucial to translation.  I'm no expert in Latin (hardly an expert in Ingrish either ;D), so I don't know how much closer I can get, but if you paste in the string I listed, the translator will give you a number of potential words to try to fit.  No doubt I didn't read some of it correctly, and likely chose the wrong word for some of what I did get read right.

OK, last time I commented I said very nice.  That seemed a bit understated.  So this time I'll say that this piece looks like something that should be in a museum.  Very nice Gary.

Thank you Dan , but 13 months ago the only thing I ever cast or had knowledge of casting was a lead bullet .

Round ball .350 mostly .

I still have the email after Dan had announced     "OK ,I will not teach anyone to do it !"
This was right after some morron blew his self up then sued someone .

I emailed Dan and said 'will you still teach me  casting ?' and he wrote back and said "OF COURSE I"LL TEACH YOU !" And he did ! ;D I bit hard and Dan reeled me in .  8)

I've told him all along the Providence has been at work .

On this side of the pond Seacoast IS THE ONLY REASON I am able to do any of this !

And not least ,is THIS site , as encouagement and fellow interest is ALL important .

Hopefully the Morko's and 1838 will turn out OK . More tommorrow !

Gary

Tim

Very nice how you ended with "Very nice Gary." after that other comment! ;D

Indeed, it is "very nice" and museum worthy.  It is a piece of artwork rivaling that of the originals, but it's even better because it is original and it's not in a museum.  Surely if it were in a museum it would never be fired, which would be a real shame.

Gary, it's ok that it's only a cell phone picture.  It would be nice to see a better picture, but that can't always happen when your camera goes bad.  I don't know that it will do for your smoke and fire pics, though.

Oh, yes, I forgot to say this, and it should be said...VERY NICE!!! ;D

I have no idea how many it could be , maybe 1000 - 1500
so from now he will be the head master of the american division of the lost wax casting university  ;D
then he will be titled as a professor , isnt that right ??
so now we got at least 2 professors here at the board
osvaldo gatto and gary lorenz

Gary Lorenz

you are hereby declared to have finished the unofficial university of lost wax casting with the highest grades  ;)

You know I don't like dirty wee pots Muskie but this one deserves my best compliment " Too good for boiling Haggis " . The sled also is excellent work , really compliments the barrel , good contours , not too fussy , allows the eye to focus on the Bizness end ,maybe a little bit longer plinth ( base plate ) to stop it from possible flipping on firing.
Now for the #1 accolade  could be used as an executive chocolate dispenser

Haggis-flavoured chocolates 'puzzle' customers

The chocolate maker focused on the most common ingredients of haggis
There is now a new way to tuck into Scotland's national dish, after a firm launched haggis-flavoured chocolates.
Edinburgh-based chocolate maker Nadia Ellingham said people had been a "bit puzzled" by her creation.
The 43-year-old came up with the idea after creating chocolates inspired by chestnut and cranberry stuffing.
Her recipe includes a range of spices used in haggis, such as nutmeg, black pepper and oatmeal, but excludes the offal part of the dish.
The recipe for haggis varies but it can be made using a sheep's stomach bag which holds a mix of sheep's liver, heart and lung, oatmeal, suet, stock, onions and spices.
Ms Ellingham, founder of the Thinking Chocolate firm, said she "scoured around lots of different haggis recipes to find a lot of the common ingredients".
"I filtered it down and came up with the ingredients that come up most often, eliminated the offal aspect of the dish, did some recipe development and it went from there," she said.
"At first taste it's a dark spicy chocolate, but then the more peppery notes come through."

Haggis is all about the entrails and organs.  I don't know how this could be legitimately considered Haggis flavored chocolate, but it could be good nonetheless.

Here's the actual Chocolate-Haggis Award:

Today Gary dropped in with 3 very nice pieces of that other golden metal.  High art and function, just my type of cannon.  I will let him explain the photos.  That little mortar is one-of a-kind and I WANT IT!  He already has me on the hook for the other two. I can't wait until we get a chance to help him with the backyard pour of the Morko Triple Investment which is just waiting for dependable weather and some courage within the foundryman/artist.  Take it away, Gary.

It's only the pick of the Army that handles the dear little pets - 'Tss! 'Tss!
