That is nice, how do you clean up the section that you can't hit in the lathe?

Fantastic just plain beautiful.  Hard to believe it can come from the mold looking this great.  Can't wait to see them mounted.  Will you test them?  Tommys2

Yes they will be mounted on carriages . They will definatly be shot ! If you backtrack thru this thread you can see pics of a carriage for the golf ball howie it is still under construction however:o .
Thank you for the compliments and welcome to the board ! ;D

Gary

btw Soot the section that can't be done on the lathe is done by hand with files ,sandpaper and alot of time .

It is really quite easy ,but YOU'S guys are blowing my 'hard time consuming' myth to .....blazes .

If you count the rpm's of the lathe at a 'known point' then you have a good idea when to screw that sucker ...and quick too ! In OR out but quick ! I'm talking bunny quick . ;)

That is the heart of the fail safe system . It is pretty easy compared to Mike and Tracys rifling efforts ..... almost lame .

What a nice thing to do, Gary.  Good lookin gun too!  I'm sure he will be very pleased with it.  I been looking for those "filagrees" that you mentioned today, but I don't see any.  Are they on the underside??   ;)

Truly fantastic.  I'll bet there aren't a handful of people in the world today who are able  to cast bronze cannons with that kind of detail and surface finish.  Gary I want to see a full-scale Berenger French 24-pounder pretty soon, have always wanted one of those.

Well, as you can see I am up early this morning to pack my seabag for today's nautical adventure.  I am always in a quandary as to what items to pack.  Is it fair to ask, Captain,  "Who will you be today, Sir?"  Will you be Captain Ahab, as usual, in which case I will pack extra harpoons, or will you be that wretched soul, the Ancient Marniner, in which case I will pack extra bottles of water?  Frankly, I would rather have salt spray in my teeth as you chase your horrible tormentor, that great white whale, Moby Dick, than be condemned to spent a whole afternoon with you, becalmed and bobbing slowly and hopelessly like a painted ship upon a painted ocean, forced to look upon that dead, rotting albatross hung around your neck!

So, what are we in for today, Captain?  I still think you should have named your sailboat, "That'l do Pig, that'l do".  I could be in trouble for That last comment.  I'm always in trouble, so what's the diff?

Gee I had hoped someone picked up on the morse code I added in there.....  ::)
I keep forgetting that there are some small bodies of water in Colorado big enough to hold a boat..... though I always had to bite my tounge at what passed for rivers in some parts out there.....here they'd be called a creek....  :)

Yes may he rest in peace. He knew how to make humor without the inuendo as it is today in so much we see as family entertainment.

It's almost done now ,just a couple coats of oil .

I think it came out very nice for a two day effort .

High angle too.

This is a scrap of wood from my Morko shaft cherry .

I spent the day on a NEW project . It is a thunder mug 8)  and it is big.

This one will be a simple design but BIG ! This one is an experiment to see if my method is sound . This one will be grossly over loaded just to see what happens ?????

It will be built 3 to 1 rule with some extra too ;) !  This only a noise maker so I am going to .....have it cast with the bore in place .

It will have a 1" bore and should be loud !

It will end at the 'Black Rifle ' part of the cans label .

Gary,
This is going to be done out of bronze?  Is it going to have a handle?  Are you going to do more than one?
