Never owned one in 223, but I've owned over a dozen in other calibers, and they all shot a little over 1 inch groups. There great hunting rifles for big game and you don't need a 1/2" shooter to kill deer.

I would like to try one in 223 someday.

I just saw that they started making them. I have one in 243 that does about 1.5" and want to get a 223 as it is one of my favorite cartridges, but the 22-250 is tempting me!!!

My .223/5.56 BLR from the early 1980's will do about an inch to an inch and a quarter with old factory softpoint loads.  Had a couple of cases stored so haven't handloaded for a while.  Ought to do a bit better with handloads.

I have a BLR in 223 that was made in 1990 per the S/N and Browning's website. I put a Burris 2-7 scope on it.
The gun will shoot sub MOA easily which I found to be a pleasant suprise.
