Wallyworld aggravation!
« on: April 18, 2010, 10:34:34 AM »
Today went to Wal- Mart to buy a few groceries and decided to pickup a box of 16 ga shotgun shells!
Well get to the checkout stand and when the cashier rings up my shells. a notice pops up on the register asking if customer is 18 years or older. Supposedly the cashier responding that I was over 18 and the register popped up a message that customer is under age and sale is denied! The cashier tried
again and same story, tried several more times to no avail. So rang up my groceries and paid for those and a manager took me over to another register and I paid cash for the durn shells! The cashier should be the one making the call on your age not some electronic blackbox that doesn`t have a clue on the customer much less their age!

What should actually be happening is the damn government needs to stay out of our business. That's what needs to happen. I never buy ammo with check or credit card. ALWAYS cash. ;) >:(

I've been carded for beer, wine and liquor.  I've been carded for night club entrance.  Hell, I've been carded for loooking like someone the cops wanted - but it wasn't me!

I waited 40 minutes in Wally-World once for a "Customer Service" Manager to come to Sporting Goods to "approve" a sale of 22 LR caliber rim-fire rounds.  They were paged a dozen times over the PA.

Why did I wait that long?  It is how long it took and I wanted those rounds for my 14 y.o.'s birthday.  WTH took the Manager so long?  I have no idea and after the sale didn't care.  I just know that I tied up a cash register and a "salesman" for a whole "dinner break" to get that "Customer Service" Manager to that register to finish the sale.

There was a veiled apology and I took my bullets and left.  Most stupid Wal-Mart act I have ever personally witnessed.

Customer service has all but ended at walmart. They have cut hours drasticly and fired a lot of folks, driven even more out, like me. Corporate is responsible, worst part is, they don't care and are too ignorant to know that no customer service == no sales. POWDERMAN.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

As a boy of 10 or 12 I bought whatever ammo I had money for with no questions asked.  As a grown man I have to show ID.  It's a strange world anymore............ ???

I had the opposite happen last week at Wally's. Case was locked that had .22 CCI minimags. Sign said be prepared to show ID. Found a kid, he goes gets the keys, says how many you want, here you go, here's your change "gramps", he walks away, and I leave.
Seeing's how I turned 75 last week, I guess that makes me a gramps to him. I feel like Rodney Dangerfield, no respect.  I hope he gets something for his Acne.  Punk.      :)

Fellas, All I can say is "stay the hell outta Wally World !" I go to a Mom and POP shop and when I walk in they Say "Hey Randy, how are you doing what can we do for you?" You might pay a few cents more but they know what they are doing and are helpfull and friendly.  ::)

They greet me by name. Same 3 guys during daylight hours for the last year (brand new Supercenter). I  freaked them out a little by trying to pay for a bunch of bananas at the ammo counter. They scanned, but had an error msg about no scale attached. Walmart is fun after a holiday, as their prices drop so much. After CHRISTmas, I bought a load of fake snow spray cans for 10 cents each. Reactive targets yay!

You gotta look for the ones that still do, but they're around.  No rhyme or reason to which ones either.  In Charleston Metro area there is 1 in Summerville that still sells them.  Summerville isn't the largest town/city around, but nor is it the most rural.  Just seems random. There are 10-12 Wal-marts in this general area and that one just happens to be the one that sells guns.

For the rest they do at least sell ammo, which is about all I buy there anymore.  All the local gun shops are out of the way for me to get to, and they price gouge like there's no tomorrow (I'm talking ~$20 for a 50 round box of 9mm prices).  I'm trying to do my other shopping elsewhere though - it's just that very few local places actually sell ammo anymore.

Walmart beats everyone's ammo prices by several dollars.  It's worth the hassel.

They recently changed how they card here.
The new verbage is if they don't look to be at least 40.
First time I was carded I thought what the heck.
Then my son in law explained the new way they do it.
After that I ask if they want to see my ID. ;D

I think Gander Mountain is as bad as Walmart. They hire idiots to work in sporting goods in both places. The two Walmarts in my area no longer sell guns. I go to the two local gun shops. At least there they know who i am and i get treated good. I went to Gander to buy a scope. I picked one out in the locked case and told the kid that is the one i want. He told me he didn't want to bother unlocking the case. :o

If that's the case you call the manager and have his job.  If the manager doesn't care then you call corporate.  Most people like that operate on the assumption that you WON'T act on it, but if you do most people higher up take those types of complaints seriously (as a bad attitude salesperson will have a much more directly negative affect on business than most other things).

I've had issues with some in fast food places for example where the person freely gave their name and said they WANTED me to call the corporate number when I asked for it, because they assumed that I wouldn't follow through with it.  After actually making the call and giving the person's name I got a call from that same person a few days later issuing a personal apology and letting me know that they were refunding my purchase.

Don't let them get away with stuff like that.

My biggest aggravation with not just Walmart, but around here we have Meijer's store's.Their so big, unless you're in them twice a week, I wander around for 20 minute's trying to find something. And, they've tinned out their help so much, you'll look for a person to help you, and I've found what I'm looking for, trying to find a clerk to tell you where the item is your looking for.  gypsyman
