Took a friend's son out for his first turkey hunt ever (his first anything hunt ever). He got to see and hear quite a show on the first day of the Youth Season. Just before first light, the gobblers were ripping off like crazy and continued through the entire hunt. Coyotes were howling like mad from a emergency vehicle siren that was going down the distant highway. And around 30 deer came into the field that we had set up in. At about 615AM, 4 Jakes come into the field, saw the Jake Mobile decoy over the hen decoy and came right in. At 19yds he absolutely smoked the biggest of the Jakes- DRT!! The boy stood up and gave what I can best describe as a battle cry!! LMAO. The other Jakes was looking at the bush that was screaming and walking into the field and they got out of dodge. Turned out to be an 18lb Jake with about a 4" beard and some nubs for spurrs. Nevertheless, it was the boy's trophy. He is now hooked!!

Hec, I had just as much fun as he did!! LMAO.
It felt quite good to introduce a child to the sport of hunting. This was the first time that I did something like this and look forward to doing more.

That will always be a lasting memory of his! Way to go!! What's next, squirrels, then deer season?
I bet he can't wait for whatever he gets to hunt again.
Thanks, Dinny

Dinny, that's so weird. I was gonna ask Swift with all the game they had around "Where were the squirrels"
I didn't ask cause I didn't want him to think I was one
I'm thinking he may be gettin a Woodchuck soon

He might try and do some coon hunting with me this season. I think he would get a kick out of calling them at night and watching those eyes shine.

Swift great job! Glad to hear of another child getting the chance to hunt. I have taken several youngens for the first time over the last 10 years. Its a real hoot when they are successful. Took one little girl deer hunting. She missed her first deer. But when she had a second chance, she scared the crap out of me. Deer walked out in front of her, she pulled the trigger it dropped. THEN she screamed like she got shot. I was bad worried until I seen the smile on her face
