Well, I couldn't stand it anymore!! Season isn't open yet but coyotes are fair game here year round. Today I had waited about as long as I could. I had started slobbering and frothing at the mouth like a mad dog-- my wife told me to get the h**l out of the house because I rubbed a little coyote pee on my hands just to get that old feeling -- been sniffing Aces' lures as well as others just to get a buzz on.
So I went and made 3 coyote sets. All in close proximity to each other with one being a dirt hole, one flat, and one scent post. I was making the scent post last and it was about 15 to 20 feet from the flat set I had just completed. It was near a large red ant hill but I didn't think anything about it. I proceded to work on digging out the pattern and was so engrossed in making my set that I didn't pay attention to the ants. The temp was in the 60's and those ants were on the move. I really pee-ed them off!! :? Before I realized it, my hands had ants on them and they were stinging the fire out of me. I paid it no mind and finished my set thinking that if a coyote hiked his leg there, he would be one mad dog when those ants got to him. Got back on the 4-wheeler and headed to the truck. By the time I got to the truck my hands were really hurting and my arms ached all the way to my elbows. Got home and took a antihistimine and in about 30 minutes my arms and hands quit hurting.
MORAL OF THIS STORY-- Don't be a dumb a** like me and stir up the ants. :-D
