Bought a "new to me" truck. Tundra content inside

out of over 50 vehicles I've owned both cheap and expensive this is my first Toyota. An 06 4x2 4.7 v8 auto sr5 with the tow package. I've owned this truck for 4 days now and am more in love with it than I was on day 1 with NO "buyers remorse"

I bought this particular truck because it has a somewhat unusual interior. It's a 4door that has a bench seat and column shifter. Meaning it Actually still seats 6 or only one seat less than the failure of a GM minivan it replaced.

Not a problem

75K  $16,900 not a great deal but I didn't get hurt either,certified pre owned meaning I get a powertrain warranty till 100k

the real deal came in the unloading of my trade, these figures are classified.

Got my first one four years ago - a Rav4 for the wife.  Was impressed enough I went out and got me a Tacoma.  Only regret is I didn't start buying them sooner.

The 00 has over 254k with hardly any promblems, its been so good ,I got me a new one just like it. Still driving the old one until weekends.This is my 5th yota truck, and wife has had 5 yota cars and daughter has one too. Just been too good to us.

Update:: I just performed my first fuel top off. Since purchasing I put 170 some odd miles in the thing and burnt just under 10gallons with the exact figure coming in at 17.4 in mixed driving with me leaning on it a few times. I'm figuring that running straight gas now (no 10% rotgut crap) and an easier foot will get that number over 18 easily.

My son in law has one that gets over 20 highway with the cruise set.  Moreover, if you really need to go, that thing will scoot!    Excellent vehicle, hope it serves you well.

Mine are not so good on gas. Both are 4wd and the 4.7 gets 16 and 17 on good days for the last 10 years. The 5.7 can get 17 at 70mph and 14 at 90mph. But the 5.7 will get gone like rat now.

I had a 2006 Tundra 4x2 as well with the 4.7 in it. I got 21 mpg on the highway and about 15-16 in city. I miss that truck. The wife traded it in on 2006 Maxima, and I got stuck with her Trailblazer. When she finishes her degree, I plan on getting a new one only 4x4 this time around.

Believe this or not !!!! Where you get gas can really alter your miliage. Im in my 00 Tundra 4wd in Ohio. Just emptied a tank and had 394 miles on ODO which I reset at every fill up. In my 10 yrs of owning this truck it usually runs 335-350 miles before light comes on. Never over 350.I know my truck well, put over 250 k on it, my driving habits do not really change much, on the way here it got lots worse on Interstate than on this last tank of mixed driving.Ohio gas must be better than Al or Ga.

Does Ohio gas contain ethanol?  I can guarantee this cut my mileage....

I didnt look at my last fill up.But its the best my truck has ever got in 10 yrs.But now that I think about it, it is very flat up here and could possibly add 40 miles to a tank , maybe. So when hearing others tell there gas miliage , now I know, to consider where they drive and the fuel they get.Im really into this because ive heard some 5.7s claiming 21mpg, well not in Bama where I drive.

I have a few friends that have the 5.7's and the best they can get is 16-17 mpg on the highway. I had a dealer try to tell me a 5.7 would get 21 mpg no problem, and I told them about my friends, and they shut up. I think they know they were stretching it a little. The old 4.7 and new 4.6, I can believe that.

My Sequoia (2008 model) will easily do 20-21 on a trip at interstate speeds. Around here where most of my driving is short trips and generally to town and then driving in town it maintains around 17 mpg.

Back when I used to go to the skeet range once or twice a week which put me on a four lane much of the way with a 65 mph speed limit the mileage stayed above 17 mpg in spite of the shorter local trips.

When we took it to OK for the PD shoot last year it was running above 20 mpg on each tank. To date since I picked it up it has averaged 16.9 for all gas added and all miles driven as I said most has been short local trips really.

Do you have the 4.6 or 5.7 ? Either way I call that pretty good on the sequia. If I could keep my gas pedal off the floorboard my 5.7 woud get as well as the 4.7 in my older truck.

So far the average for 5 fillups is 16.5mpg with many of the miles involved using the truck for trucklike things

No issues to report other than I wish toyota had seen fit to have provided a dipstick for the trans

My 2005 Tundra had the smaller 4.6 which still had plenty of power really but the 2008 Sequoia has the 5.7 with 372 hp I think it is. When you mash that pedal it MOVES.

I drive with a light foot really never exceeding the speed limit and most times when possible using cruise control even in town at 25mph or 35mph as the case might be. I come out of cruise only when traffic just will not allow it. Still mileage goes down at such slow speeds. Cruising on the highway at 65 mph it's averaging 20 or better.

It has a feature that lets you see what mileage you are getting moment by moment if you want to or several other options. Mostly I just leave it set to show me total mileage since I bought it but it is easily moved to the other features as well and will even tell me the outside temp. I have just over 9600 miles on it now and that includes the 3000+ for the trip to OK last year. I'm pretty sure it will soon have been here two years tho I just don't really recall the date I picked it up.

With the best single fill to fill (300miles from 3/4 of a tank) at 19.48

Glad it's working out for you. I am waiting to see where the AF sends me next before I buy a new vehicle. Would like to go overseas and then spend the last 1-2 years state side before I retire. If we get to go to Europe, the wife already has her eye on a new Audi A5.
