Sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you......... my turn today ... bigtime!
I bought a 6" scroll chuck for my lathe off Craigs list last night, with inside and outside jaws, for $50. Went and picked it up and it is all but brand new, absolutely excellent condition. As I was leaving I saw a scrap metal pile with some "lead appearing" rolls of metal..... sure enough , roof flashing.... about 70-80 lbs of it for $20
Now, figuring I am on a roll, I went to Gander Mountain, yep, I AM on a roll, 308 Survivor Handi-Rifle with a buttstock ammo holder, and a 4 x 12 illuminated Barsco scope for $159 & tax. It had been on the rack for about 10 minutes according to the clerk. I know the Barsco isn't much, but is is nice and clear w/ no fuzzy edge so I'll give the benefit of the doubt until I get some ammo loaded and try it out. About 15 minutes ago an old buddy called an said he was leaning out his garage and has some lead he melted down, wanted to know if I wanted it.............. I really oughta go buy a lottery ticket !!
The Handi is pretty clean, very few marks, locking shelf engagement looks nice, lock-up is excellent and the trigger is quite good. The previous owner apparently was never here because he had greased the latch
I got it all cleaned up good and am awaiting dies so I can make some ammo.
